Sweep the Rangers to win the AL West title! This is such a great story of an underdog team that was expected to lose 100, come in 1st place

i read that i think it was on 6/25 that the A's had a 0.1 percent chance of making the playoffs - not even winning the division.

amazing

OAK was behind us 13 games at one point so that's an incredible story, not to mention OAK's payroll is less than half the Rangers'. Kudos to them.

this is awesome. Happy for them. I used to play as them in MVP baseball 2005. Fun team to root for. Good definition of success and right after Moneyball too.

Let's just hope that if the A's and Giants do make it that far, there isn't another Loma Prieta. :hide:

It really started just after their 9 game losing streak at the end of May. The next month and a half they worked their way back to .500 for the All-Star Break, and continued firing on all cylinders the rest of the way.

This is all Billy Beane...this is not the first time has done this
1. Trading away Andrew Bailey and Ryan Sweeney for Josh Reddick and two minor leaguers (Red Sox fans are pissed).
2. No Dallas Braden and/or Brett Anderson most of the season
3. Signed Yoenis Cespedes
4. Signed Brandon Moss (20+ HRs in 80 games, only 6 players have done this accomplishment)
5. Acquired Stephen Drew for a minor leaguer
6. Trade Trevor Cahill for Jarrod Parker (Another winner)

Not only that...they have talent like Michael Choice, Aj Cole, Dan Stailey, Addison Russell......they will only get better

Only if they would of swept the Tigers in September to help the Sox.

That series pissed me off, mostly because of their 2 bunt hits in a row that lead to Anderson's injury.

You're right but you just touched on a handful of the things this team did and all the setbacks this team had to overcame to get to where they are now. What a crazy and exciting season for the A's. I just hope we can win that last game in 2012.

This team and the Orioles are the best baseball stories of the year. Everyone knew Cabrera was going to have a great season. No one thought the Orioles or Athletics would make the playoffs.
