Was just thinking on how nowadays you rarely see an allstar game in the city of a megastar.

For instance, San Antonio had the allstar game in 1996 when Robinson was around, but never had it again when Duncan was around.

When KG was around in Minnesota the Allstar game never came (last one was 1994).

Wade hasn't had an allstar game in Miami since he has been around (last one 1990)

Lebron hadn't had an allstar game in Cleveland since he has been around (last one in 1997)

Steve Nash had one in Phoenix back in 2009 but this was when he was not a megastar anymore.

Chicago doesn't look to have another allstar game according to Reinsdorf (last one 1988 and that was at the Chicago Stadium)

A few exceptions has been Staples Center in 2004 and 2011 when Shaq and Kobe were around and also Dallas (Cowboy Stadium not American Airlines Center)

With that in mind the next venues are it appears in 2013 in Houston, 2014 in New Orleans and 2015 MSG.

It has alot to do with the city itself and if it can support all the people that will be in town for the event. It has nothing to do with where a certain star player is playing.

Teams that have NEVER hosted an NBA All-Star game:
Portland, Sacramento, Toronto, Memphis, Bobcats

OKC, Brooklyn ** the franchises have hosted at least once

Since 1989, in addition to the above --- Milwaukee, Indiana, Chicago, Detroit, Boston

I thought the purpose of the All-Star game was to promote the NBA. The NBA has neglected these cities (some of which could use the exposure) yet has given the game to Houston(1989, 2006, 2013), the Hornets franchise (NO/CHA)1991,2008, 2014, Phoenix (1995,2009), Orlando (1992, 2012), New York (1998, 2015), Philadelphia (1999*Cancelled, 2002), and LA (2004, 2011) multiple All-Star games since 1989. Heck, even a non-NBA city (Las Vegas) got a game!

I know its a game for corporations and businesses, but I still think the fan-bases in all NBA cities deserve to have the All-Star game played in their city. Each team should host BEFORE any franchise is allowed to have a repeat.

Just my personal opinion and a little off-topic since this was about mega-stars having the game in their city.

2006. But that was a season he was out 35 games due to injury and the Rockets sucked that season.
