Which team had the best haul of players in one offseason... When the Lakers got Nash and Howard this offseason, this came to mind... obviously another one is James and Bosh going to Miami! Was their any bigger hauls then the recent Miami and Los Angeles offseasons? What in fact was the biggest haul of all time?

Magic getting Afflalo, Harrington, and Eyenga all in one offseason.

biggest come together is when many players come together and join the same team.

Miami's haul was bigger than the Laker's this year, from the whole picture perspective at least. What Miami did had never been done before, where they all teamed up as free agents and chose one team. It had rippling effects throughout the entire league, and is still talked about today. It was the single most polarizing offseason movement in NBA history probably. I'd say it was the biggest haul of all time.

The Lakers' offseason moves this year are also incredible. Getting Dwight and Nash to add to Kobe/Gasol is nothing short of incredible. However, they went about it differently, via trade, and you can't forget that they had to give up Bynum to do it. That's a huge factor, whether you believe Dwight is better than Bynum or not.

From a personnel/talent perspective, it's a little closer, but I'll still give the edge to Miami, with Lebron James trumping all and flat out being so much better than anyone else. You also have to consider that Wade was a FA as well, and was being openly courted by other teams (Chicago at least I think, right?). They ha a chance of losing him. So technically, Miami acquired Lebron, Bosh, and Wade. And to add Wade to the group for comparison purposes with the Lakers' acquisitions, it's not even close.

There have always been other great offseason hauls and "super teams." The other most recent one obviously being Boston. Or when the Lakers brought in Payton and Malone to play with Shaq and Kobe (even though they were old as ****). But Miami's was different. It is still the most polarizing situation in the NBA to this day. It was a game changer and had huge effects on the entire league.

Thank you for taking the thread serious unlike everyone else and answering with a very good basketball educated answer! I agree with many of your points... I think talent wise...Lakers probably had the best haul ever when you include Jamison and others.... but I agree with the point you made about Miami's haul a couple years back

Boston's offseason when they brought KG and Ray Allen to team with Pierce was pretty special.

Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups going to the Clippers was pretty big...yet short lived for Chauncey.

Teaming Shaq with Kobe was one of the smartest things ever.

Tracy McGrady and Grant Hill going to Orlando could have been huge. Tracy McGrady emerged into a top ten player that year, and Grant Hill already was a top ten player...jeez that team would have been sick.

You guys calling out Mr LA are just as bad because you're not answering the topic, rather, you are **** posting.

But on topic, Miami had the biggest ever. LeBron is wayyyy better than anyone else and that is the X factor. If Miami hadn't gotten LeBron, The Lakers would be head and shoulders above everyone else in regards to the biggest haul

Karl Malone and Gary Payton going to LA to team with Shaq and Kobe was a pretty beastly move as well. All 4 players averaged over 20 points per game just a season before they got together.

I have a better solution 'Mr.LA', stop making threads about LA every 6 hours, in all good question bad and annoying OP

This has absolutely nothing to do with LA... It's not my fault they are one of the teams who always seem to come out of no where with unrealistic hauls... I created the thread to basically hear from some of the older PSD members and hear some of the other amazing hauls over the years! and just to get peoples opinions on what haul was the best! That's it

2005 was the first year I started following the Lakers so I don't really remember the Payton/Malone era! I am 19 so I was only...what...12?? lol
All I heard was that Malone got injured and that was all that was wrote on that era  haha but I do know that obviously on paper that team probably seemed unstoppable....old or not

Everyone dismisses that team as Malone and Payton being out of their prime, which is true, they were, but, without going into deep statistics, Payton was averaging 20 points and 8 assists just prior to that season, and Karl Malone was averaging 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists the prior season. They assembled a great team that year on paper, that came short of winning the finals...in big part to losing Karl.

But I think the Raps in 2000 was a big gather of players as well, hakeem olajuwan, Lil Mug's and some other past stars/all-stars. Not bad...

Hilarious. To the people complaining that MR.LA is just posting up threads for the sake of shining the light on his home team, I'll admit that I too thought this was the case, but instead of instantly mindlessly going ahead and writing 'stfu La fan', i chose to read the rest of the thread topic, where the real question was :speechless:. And funnily enough, it turned out Mr.La wasn't such a bad guy at all, he was actually just sparking up a friendly debate, about people's opinions on what was the biggest player haul of all time. Mr.La even suggested that the miami trade (lebon n chris bosh) could be the biggest player haul of all time, so...... how is this biased  if anything it is clearly rational.

I'll agree that i think miami somehow acquiring chris bosh and Lebron james onto a team with superstar dwayne wade, without giving up anything, is probably the best player haul of all time.

THANK YOU!!! I appreciate it...finally someone actually read the question! Anyways... I think I'd have to agree that Miami had the biggest haul for the plain fact that they weren't a great team the year before they got James and Bosh... Lakers already had a good team last season so the haul we got this offseason isn't going to be as impactful as the Miami haul or others in the past... however, it should be HUGE for us! but yeah...I'd say Miami had the biggest haul at least in recent memory

Boston's haul is what started the movement, but Miami's overhaul is the most polarizing, as sixer04fan so eloquently stated.

The Lakers are up there though. If anything, it came as more as surprise given how so many believed he would be a Net.

Shaq & Kobe 1996 - Lakers

If Miami win 2 more minimum in the next few years, then they will eclipse the impact Shaq & Kobe had. Not until then though.
