NBA news: Rasheed Wallace working out at NYK practice facility w/Camby and Kurt Thomas. Knicks' considering.

I hope they sign him. The Knicks will be seen on 34 national TV games and atleast 1 game will include a technical foul for the ages with Wallace.

I have no clue how our rotation is going to be if we sign Sheed. It seems like J.R. might have a big season since he is the only offensive spark coming off the bench. I could see him pulling a Jamal Crawford Hawks type deal and end up getting 6th man of the year.
I think the roster is fine with Camby and Thomas, we really don't need another center do we?

Regardless of this signing, this shows the knicks are looking to build a team full of bulldogs. They've also been linked to names like kenyon martin and lou amundson. Tough, mean players. Nobody is gonna out talent the HEAT so you gotta get players that will put them on their *** every time they go to the rack. Not sure I support this particular signing, but I like the mentality

If signed Wallace would be the 12th man... I actually like the idea of signing vets to the end of the bench. Sure the Knicks have Kidd, Thomas, Camby and potentially Wallace but they are not "old" because none of these guys are starters. The core of:

Amar'e
Melo
Shumpert
JR
Brewer
Chandler
Felton

is far from old. The rest of the guys bring veteran leadership and toughess... nothing wrong with that.

I swear that some of these NETS fans talk so much trash when they haven't even played a single game. Its insane. Get Gerald Wallace and Joe Johnson and automatically your better than the entire Eastern conference GTFOH! I mean come on really. Joe is a good player but he can't win the games for you. I watched him night in and night out in ATL and he put up good numbers but he isn't going to be what you expect him to be. I mean hell your guys haven't even bought into the scheme of things. Deron Williams is a fickle leader who kept saying he would leave for Dallas if Dwight didn't come and if you didn't get this guy or that guy that he was gone. I mean we have tons of idiots on our team but at least so far the loyalty is there. The Nets will be a very good team this year no doubt, but don't count your chickens before they hatch I have been there many times as a Knicks fan and high expectations usually lead to downfall. The Nets have a good roster. A good roster. Gerald Wallace, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez are not players that make franchises they are very good pieces, but look at the pistons they have good pieces when they signed Charlie and Ben but they tanked. Everyone said look out for the pistons they over payed such and such. Just like the Nets are doing. These guys aren't young and you can sit there and say oh my god look how old Jason kidd is look how old Kurt Thomas is the knicks are desperate, that isn't the case at all. Our core is Amare, Melo, Tyson. Three players all in their prime. Adding age will not hurt our team and it wouldn't hurt the Nets either. You have Brooks we have Shump. The only thing the Nets have us in is the point guard spot and even if we had Lin D-WILL is an outstanding point guard one of the leagues best. Every other position we have the Nets covered. So point being the Nets have a "good team" let the team play before you start trash talking. Look at Lebron "not 1.not 2.not 3." Some times you gotta tone it down and just PLAY BASKETBALL!

As I mentioned yesterday, I believe #Knicks interest in Rasheed is not based on now but how he can improve over season & be key in playoffs.

Interesting

If #Knicks sign Sheed it emphasizes Woody's power on personnel decisions. Setting defensive course, Hakeem tie-in, saying no to Barnes, etc.

'Sheed definitely puts NYK over the top. It's damn near a 'dream team' with 4 future HOFers in Kidd, Carmelo, Amare, Chandler, and a multi-time all star in Wallace. Plus, Felton's in shape, and Isaiah's comin' back, and Dolan's at the helm. Knicks have a chance to challenge the bulls' run of 6 titles.

Garnett, Perkins, Davis, Rasheed was the key reason why the Celtics got to the Finals having enough tough bigs to throw at Howard in the ECF. I could see how Rasheed would help since people claim he was the best teammate and Chandler, Camby, Rasheed defensively would be good for NYK but then again, that was in 2010.

If he really hasn't lost a step, It's a big gain since he can defend, rebound in limited minutes and shoot outside. If he doesn't look great, It's a locker room gain only.

Okay well first off, Dwight is in L.A. now. Don't need to go through him to get to the Finals, maybe to win it but that's another conversation.

Secondly, Perk is trash and pretty much has always been trash except for like 1 season.

Third, and finally, you're missing the point. The big men only have to be servicable in that sort of situation because when you are talking about throwing guys at Howard you are talking about guys who are are capable of banging with him, but if he gets good position it is just 6 more fouls to give on him because he is such a poor FT shooter.

Celtics were always better than the Magic, stop with Dwight. Dwight was a member of the MAgic by himself he couldnt do anything.
The ATL Hawks beat the Magic and he was guarded by Jason Collins.

My point exactly. Jason Collins didn't play a lick outside of the Magic series but he was used simply because he could defend Dwight and use 6 more fouls on him without getting important players in foul trouble.

Perkins at that point > Camby

In 2009-10:

Camby:
PER of 17.0, Defensive rebounding%: 32.9, Total rebounding%: 22.2, Assist%: 12.3, Block%: 4.8, DefensiveRTG: 101, WinShares: 6.8

Perkins:
PER of 15.0, Defensive Rebonding%: 24.4, Total rebounding%: 16.9, Assist%: 6.0, Block%: 4.8, DefensiveRTG: 101, Winshares: 5.2.

Camby 2012:
PER of 19.6, OffensiveREB: 13.0 Defensive rebounding%: 31.7, Total rebounding%: 22.3, Assist%: 10.9, Block%: 4.7, DefensiveRTG: 97, WinShares: 1.7 in 24 minutes per game.

Perkins 2012:
PER of 8.6, OffensiveREB: 8.4 Defensive rebounding%: 18.8, Total rebounding%: 13.9, Assist%: 6.4 Block%: 3.9, DefensiveRTG: 103, WinsShares: 2.0 in 26 minutes per game.

So, Camby > Perkins then and now. You certainly fit in with the rest of the Heat bandwagoners since none of them know basketball much like yourself.

Rasheed Wallace has told the Knicks he has elected to come out of retirement and join Monday's training camp, according to an NBA source.

The Knicks could announce the move as soon as today. The 6-foot-11 Wallace, who worked out with the Knicks over the weekend, retired two years ago after a disappointing season with Boston. His agent Bill Strickland told The Post this morning he has not begun formal contract negotiations with the Knicks and wouldn't confirm the decision was made.

Wallace would make the veteran's minimum of 1.7 million. Strickland said if Wallace plays it would only be with the Knicks because of his relationship with coach Mike Woodson, who was a Pistons assistant when Detroit won the title with Wallace as one of its stars.

The Knicks looked at it as a no-risk move. Wallace is a stout defender, who can hit the 3-pointer. Tyson Chandler told The Post on Wednesday that Wallace "looked good in workouts and could be a big help."

The Post reported Tuesday the Knicks wanted to sign Wallace, but it was up to him whether he could dedicate himself to getting into NBA shape.
