I once played against Pops Mensah-Bonsu. He was probably the most athletic guy I've ever played with. It was like playing against a jumping spider- he was all arms and legs. Needless to say, he was pretty good.

I've played with the likes of JR Smith, Mike Gilchrist, and Kyrie. They're all even more incredible than you can imagine. I don't like JR, but I do respect him, the guy can knock down shots from half court all day.

Ive played against Kobe and he makes tough shots all around the court, I also played against LeBron and he's physical and bullies his way through anyone. I also had the opportunity to play against Yao once and he's really tall. Thread/lies

I played against Blake Griffin and his brother when they were 10 and 12 yr old and I was 12.

I was better than blake at the time (2 years makes a huge difference at that age) his brother kicked our but and they beat us 39-26 or something. I wasn't matched up against blake though as he played in the post and I was a PG. Its fun to think about now but at the time I didn't think much of it besides that their team was VERY good.

Once witnessed Joe Alexander rip a rim down in the rec center. Saw Devin Ebanks catch a nasty alley oop at the rec...he left one game before I got on. Got to help at a WVU practice 2 years ago and worked the team and mainly with Kevin Jones, one of the best times of my life.

I played against Dahntay Jonesn once and my friend got in a fight with him. Jones is so freaking arrogant. We played ball at Mercer County Park and he was pretty chill. Just would never shut up and stop talking smack.

True story. I played against Chuck Hayes in a pickup game in his hometown Modesto, Ca once. At the time, he was playing out his last year with Kentucky before leaving to the NBA. I think he was just in town to see his parents. My brother also played against Chuck in junior high.

What was it like? I was pretty much in awe of his size the moment I saw him. The guy was built and it's not often you see a guy that tall with that sort of bulk. He pretty much shut down any side of the floor he was on forcing everyone to swing the ball to the other side of the floor. I didn't matchup head to head with him because I'm only 5'11" but he was basically bodying every big man in the gym. The guy was a flat out great defender and it was obvious even at that age. He came down the lane and dunked it pretty bad as I got out the way on one play. That was pretty much my experience with him.

I also played against Floyed Mayweather at a 24-hr fitness in Las Vegas once. I can't stand that arrogant prick. All he did was talk. He came out with his "Money Team" to play pickup ball. I've actually seen him quite often in Vegas around the casinos shopping and at the nightclubs. Oh, and Floyed got crossed up by my boy pretty good.

When I was about 14 and the extension to our house was being built, I played in the yard against David Andersen as him and his brother were helping their dad with the building. Being a good foot and a half shorter than him at the time, there wasn't much I could do to stop him scoring.

I played against Lebron at the YMCA. I took him to the hole a ton and dunked almost every play. We were tied 10-10 in a pickup game, and he pulled up for a jumper, choked hard, started crying and I got the rebound and turned around and shot a fadeaway for the win, Dirk style.

LOL at heyman.
One time I played a pickup game with John Amaechi. It was really weird, it was one on one but he insisted on bodying up on me every single play. He seemed more interested in hitting the showers after the game than actually playing it. I guess his heart just wasn't really in the game.

I once played with with some white kids at a nearby suburban rec center. None of them, including myself, ever made it to the NBA. However, it was a bunch of fundamentally sound players giving it their all, and a fun time was had by all.

I played against Big Baby, DJ Augustine, and Tweety Carter in High School. In AAU I played against CJ Miles (who was the best player I've ever been on the court with) and Lamarcus Alridge (who was like a 6'10 shooting guard at the time, hardly ever stepped in the paint at least in that game).

When I was a freshmen at WVU i lived in a dorm next to Kevin Jones and Truck Bryant. Devin Ebanks lived on the floor below us. I used to play multiple pick up games with all three of them at the WVU rec center. The highlight of my life was throwing an alley oop to Devin Ebanks. Devin and Truck also played a flag football game for us only to get yelled at by Bob Huggins.

Played against 15-20 NBA players throughout my life, most of them being meh when they were in the NBA (KG the lone exception, played a couple pickup games with him in the late 90's in the gym below the Target Center). They are simply bigger and stronger than the rest.

I have played with a bunch of D1 players. Namely, the Boston University team. And it's pretty ridiculous how even a team like we have, which everyone knows is a joke on the national D1 level, they can ****ing ball.

I also played with some Syracuse players. They practiced at BU last March for the tournament and I snuck into the practice. When they were taking a lunch break I talked with Jim Boeheim. Then I joked with Gerry McNamara about his lame car commercials (I'm from Syracuse) and we shot around with Triche and Southerland.

I can't even tell you how happy I was about this haha. Syracuse was playing in Boston, but the tickets were more than I thought I should spend as a poor college student. I thought this was a sign, so I changed my mind... until I separated my shoulder later that same day.

Lots of ups and downs...

I was on my HS Basketball team but we had 2 guys, one was my friend who is about 6'4" and the other was this small dude who was looked at for McDonalds All-American team/game but he ended up getting into so **** and went to prison.

Anyway, we got to play a game against Darius Miles, who was on the circuit at the time.

It's funny because he's considered "eh" in the NBA but man, he absolutely destroyed us. My friend also got to play against Kevin Love, said he didn't actually stop him from making a shot once lol.

People are arrogant of the fact that it actually does happen. The Wolves often play pickup games at the Lifetime Fitness at Target Center and all you need to get in there is have a membership. I have some friends who have shot hoops with the likes of Garnett, Foye, Szherbiak, e.t.c. I am glad I never have, I have a hard time playing against people 20 years older than me who are average joes.

Pretty much this. Here in SA guys play at our Lifetime gyms, and Spectrum, etc..

There are also a bunch of guys that have played college ball and former NBA that play a league down here as well, which I'm sure is the same for pretty much any other city.

I played against Eddie House back in High School. Our teams were invited to the tournament and my 2nd round game was against Hayward High and Eddie House. He was totally different from Arizona State/NBA. He could drive and dunk from just about everywhere, but couldn't hit a jump shot. Everyone said he was gonna eat me alive, but it was a tight matchup. He couldn't hit a shot though. I think he had like 7 points in the game. He won the dunk contest. I remember telling him, "Work on your outside shot and you will be good" during handshake after game. Never would have though he would turn out in the NBA.

I have actually played with quite a few NBA players. I will go in order from frist meeting to recent.

8th grade - Lavar Postell and Ron Artest came down to one of our practices as a favor to my coach who also played for St. Johns University back in the day.

9th grade - I was recruited to play for the people to people sports ambassadors program. We went to the dominican republic and on my team was Al Jefferson and Glen big baby Davis. at that time Jefferson was already 6'9 and Davis was 6'5. I was the next largest guy at 6'2. We won the tournament.

10th grade - My AAU team qualified to go to the national tournament. We got stuck in a very tough bracket. I had to guard David Lee in one game. Al Jefferson in another game. The elimination round we lost to the florida gators which featured 5 division 1 talents and 2 mcdonalds all americans at the time. We lost by 65 points. The biggest name on that team is playing overseas last I heard.

11th grade - Faced up against Danny Green when he played for a rival highschool, St. Marys H.S. Faced up against Sebastian Telfair when he played for Lincoln. Faced up against A.J. Price in the Long Island Championship game.

12th grade - Danny Green joined our AAU team for the remainder of the season.

In a pickup game in O.C. some time ago a guy was in one of the games, who I guess was supposed to be some highly regarded college player or something, don't know his name, maybe going pro, not sure. He was really big, and dunked ferociously for all over the place. I'm 6', and it just seemed like this guy was 10 feet tall and could jump.

He was kind of a jerk, and I know he got kind of pissed at me for trying to defend him, I tried swatting the ball away from him several times and he didn't like it. Then on one play I got isolated on a fast break and he was coming down the court at me. I had to scramble as fast as I could to get out from under the hoop as this guy came down the court and tomahawk jammed. Seriously, in my memory it seems like he was 20 feet in the air.

Who knows, probably a good NBA forward would easily beat him; from my perspective though the combination of size, speed and strength was extremely impressive.

you were kinda close to using the correct word, I guess.

I love these threads, and the how good were you at basketball threads, tons of lies, "knee injuries" that ended your amazing ability, unfair coaches.

I played NBA Tournament Edition last night for the first time in prob 10+ years. The rebound totals still dont make any sense. I scored 220 with the hot spots on with Mitch Richmond and Spud Webb.
