Not bad at all.
If he is focused on defense and rebounding will allow Kg to play his real position.

How many players do they now have under contract?

He probably won't play if Wilcox stays healthy, and Sullinger shows he can stay in shape.

Fine depth signing. Damn Boston is deep.

But they can be as deep as they want, if Pierce and KG start to slip in their old age, they won't be contenders. It's all about their star players in the end.

I assume their plan with signing all this front court depth is to try and save KG as much as they can until the playoffs.

It's always about every teams stars in the end. That's what gets you the ring. Regardless, Danny Ainge has set this team up to contend and then some. Great job by Danny Ainge. Pretty damn good roster.

Rondo/Terry/Dooling
Lee/Bradley
Pierce/Green/Joseph
Bass/Sullinger/Collins
KG/Wilcox/Darko/Melo

If Ainge hits on Sullinger, look out.

Good pickup. Lost Ray Allen, but they have added Jason Terry, Courtney Lee, Fab Melo, Sullinger, Collins and now Millicic. Also, Jeff Green is healthy along with Wilcox. The team looks good and they are much deeper than last season's team that was a game away from the finals.

Rondo/Dooling
J. Terry/A. Bradley/C. Lee
P. Pierce/Jeff Green
B. Bass/Sullinger/Melo
K. Garnett/Milicic/Collins/Wilcox

Greg Stiemsma's replacement.

Not really.

They'll go into the season with Sullinger and Wilcox as the primary backups.

The Heat have 3 of the top 5 picks of the 03 draft with former Celtic Ray Allen

The Celtics now have their new big 3 of KG, Paul and Rondo with the #2 pick of that 03 draft, Darko.

he'll get a 20 point game once in every blue moon. great pick up if doc can figure him out but darko is really one of those guys who doesn't seem to care about winning at all. I think he'll get on kg's nerves more then help him.

Smart move by Boston. Never can have too many bigs who can play...

Looks like Fab Melo is about to have a battle on his hands this coming season for the backup center? Or maybe the starting spot if they move KG back to the 4 and bring Bass off the bench. Either way, I like what Boston is doing. And they got Green back who's versatile.

KG should remain a Center. He is by far more effective there.

I think Ainge views Melo as a big time project. No real battle looming. Pretty much 14th or 15th man this year. Still extremely raw. He'll see time during the blowouts, but will sit and learn from guys like KG for the majority of the year.

wow thats a solid pickup for them. i guess the heat really do need harrellson lol

They had enough in the front court, so this signing isn't really a significant one, but it never hurts to have fresh, big bodies for the regular season. Don't expect him to see any playing time come the playoffs though.

Any of you who think this is a 'very very good pick up' didnt watch Milicic last year. The guy simply doesnt care. This isnt a good pick up at all.

Playing for a team with KG and a great supporting cast that's expected to be a top contender in their conference is a bit different though.

wow, this might actually work out in Boston, KG is not gonna settle for the attitude that Darko brought to all those rebuild teams he was on. Darko is a very talented player, and when his mind is in the game, he is one of the best defensive centers in the league.

Good signing no matter what. He's either a shotblocker or comedic fodder.

I'd have to agree with this. Also, are people really excited about Wilcox and Collins being the primary backups? Darko definitely is the most talented as long as he doesn't get "injured." I don't feel like this is "added depth," but rather absolute necessity for Boston.

Melo as back-up? He's headed to 3rd string or the D league.

No way KG is moved to the #4. Bass is the 2nd best big they have, and he can't play #5.

Spot on. Just take a look at Wilcox's games played the last 5 years or so... and KG's age. Collins is beyond worthless. Melo is a project.

Someone said Darko will get 20 every now and then... I'd much rather have a 3/7 line out of him focused on the D.

Darko earned a nickname in the Wolves forum over the last couple of years, we called him Vage, or Vagina. Boston is one of the few teams in the league I could see Vage doing well in. When he is motivated, he is a very good center, but nothing seems to motivate him.

The guy turned down bigger Euro offers to go to a NBA contender. Maybe he cares more than it appears. Just a lazy carer haha.

Good move for Celtics. Actually I think he is the second better big man in this team only behind Kevin Garnett. He can easily play 30-35 minutes because the other big men aren't nowadays very good players.

Maybe Brandon Bass could be saved, and maybe Melo & Sullinger have more minutes as the season progresses, but Wilcox & Sean Williams are going to be at deep bench.

Garnett, who´s going to play like center most of the time, and Milicic maybe are too players if Celtics want that Melo improve this season, so it's necessary that kevin also play like PF if you want that Melo plays sometimes although it means that Sullinger no play much. At any rate, it's clear that Sullinger have more chances to play because he dispute a square with Bass.

Leaving aside progression of rookies, I understand this trade. The Celtics need to try win the tittle this season as its better players are getting old: KB and Paul Pierce.

Darko and Kevin mix so well because the first one play layup while the second one have good shoot range and power and intensity. They can forget that the future of this teams is in the hands of players like Rondo, Bradley, Courtney Lee, Melo and Sullinger, but this is a understandable trade.

This is a good move. Alternate between Milicic, Melo and Sullinger at center, and let Garnett stay at power forward. Meanwhile, let Sullinger and Green back him up.
I like Boston's chances at defending James, with Green and Garnett to throw at him.
