That was an offensive foul. He pushed Alonzo with his other arm. I think the best dunk by far was the one handed ally oop. He caught that pass from half court with one hand like it was a joke.

Offensive foul?? Had Mourning ever established a legal guarding position? No he did not, so it cannot be an offensive foul

no it wasn't Mourning got bodied. Look at carters arm if he pushed him his arm wouldn't be in the sideways position.

in an actual Real Life arena, Wade dunking on Varejao after a Jermaine O'Neal block on LeBron's dunk attempt.

He pushed him off with his arm while going to the basket to make space, that is an offensive foul. Mourning doesn't have to be standing still in order for that to be a foul.

I'm sorry but you need to read the rulebook. You do not need to be standing still to take a charge; you can be moving backwards or laterally. In no way is this even near an offensive foul

I've only seen a couple of nba games in person because I don't live very close to a market, so my options are limited. Mine was more about the experience than the actual dunk. My first ever game I sat courtside at the ACC to watch the Raps play the Clips the year we won the Atlantic, and Jose Calderon threw a half-court alley-oop from right in front of me to..... ANDREA BARGNANI!!! It wasn't spectacular but I was wasted and the place blew up. Plus they put my drunk *** on TV gettin wild haha

When the NCAA final four was held in Minneapolis. I went to watch the teams practice, and at the end of Michigan State's practice, they decided to do a little show for the fans. Jason Richardson did a sweet little 360 windmill.

Who said anything about a charge? It was an offensive foul because he purposefully used his arm to push him off. You do know that there are other ways you can commit an offensive foul that have nothing to do with the opposing player taking a charge? A push off like that is an offensive foul.

He moves his arm in the direction before they even make contact. The arm is what gave him the space needed to make the dunk with his other hand.

Still need to be in a legal guarding position or inside your cylinder for an offensive foul to be called was the point I was trying to make. Also the cylinder extends slightly in front of you (about 15cm) and as Carter's arm never leaves his cylinder it cannot be a foul on him because he is entitled to fill his cylinder.

ya but there is no contact from his arm, if putting his arm out creates space without touching him there is no push off. Its just a smart play.

So then how are push off fouls called on the perimeter and at the three point line? It's the same concept. You are not allowed to create space between you and the other player using your arm.

The cylinder has nothing to do with the contact. He's not even in the paint when he extends his arm. Plus arm push off fouls are called all the time under the basket.

I don't understand what video you were watching. His arm hits Mourning before and sends him in the other direction. The reason why he could dunk it with his other hand and get the neccesary space is because he used the opposing hand to create the space needed.

Yeah the exact same concept can be applied to fouls on the perimeter. If that arm extends outside of the cylinder and causes the defense to be disadvantaged, you are right it is a push off. The cylinder has everything to do with contact! Not just for push off fouls but also for block/charge, illegal screens and post up situations.
So firstly, the defensive player is not in a legal guarding position, inside his cylinder so an offensive foul cannot be called.
Secondly Carter didnt extend that arm outside of his cylinder at the point of contact so nothing is incorrect.
Thirdly, do you honestly believe Mourning was disadvantaged by a slight push by Carter? No way! The contact that forces Mourning out of bounds is just the body contact from the dunk, not because of a push off.
