Good thread. I dont think you should include guys that reached there potential before getting hurt though. For example Grant hill was an absolute beast for about 6 years before he started falling apart.

at top two is hill and vince, and this is no coincidence, if carter worked a little harder, and grant hill's knees a little stronger, then these two would have at least one ring, and achieve their dream like M L King

Earl Manigault would be the GOAT from what I read and hear about him.

Ralph Sampson has got to be #1. He was predicted to be one of the greatest of all time out of college, and could virtually do everything on the court at 7-4. But those damn knees, price you pay for being so tall I guess.

Len Bias
Dereck Coleman

What about that big guy who played for the pacers, I remember he had 2 really bad knees and tried to make a comeback.

there will probably never be another ed obanan reference for the duration of my lifetime :p but yeah, i thought he was merely drafted because of the shot he made.

Harold Miner and Ed Obbannon should not be on this list. It'd be like putting Adam Morrison on here.

Ed O'bannon and Harold Miner couldn't even stay in the league past 4 seasons. They had no injury... they just weren't that good.

The only guys on this list that i feel didn't reach their potential was Grant Hill and Ralph Sampson. Bias and Penny too... though I believe we saw exactly how good Penny was... just, like Hill, he career took a nose dive because of injury.

Ceballas had a long career where he got lots of minutes and few injuries. He had as good a career as he was going to have.

A couple of these guys were never even in the NBA?

As for Randy Moss... I dunno... never saw him play.

Speaking of Ed Obannon, what ever happened to his brother Charles? Did he ever make it? I remember watching that UCLA team waaay back when.

Good list right there. I'll add Greg Oden, Shaun Livingston, Sebastian Telfair for more recent years... Also Dajuan Wagner was supposed to be a big deal and he was a complete flop.

Robert Wadlow required leg braces just to walk. I don't think he had the potential to play in the NBA. His body wasn't capable of handling the kind of work required to be in the NBA. There is more to being a basketball player than just being tall.
