I've always been a fan of Marion since backn in his Phoenix days, and aside from posting nearly 20/10 numbers for a few season and finishing on the All-NBA 3rd team twice, his defence is what impressed me most about his game. That said however, Shawn Marion, who is likely one of the best wing defenders on his generation (he's up there with Artest, Iggy and LBJ in my opinion) has never once been put on an All-NBA defensive teams. Something just seems wrong with this, so I thought I'd post a thread letting Marion know that his defence is as good as anybody's and give him a little love as he enters the twilight of his career.

Anybody else want to show Marion some love? Let's hear it.

I think he would be a really good piece to a championship contender. I believe he's in the last yr of his contract, so next summer, whoever signs him is going to be damn lucky.

Terrible shooting stroke, but gets the job done offensively and defensively.

This thread made it seem like he retired. Why don't you change the title to "Why doesn't Shawn Marion (NOT MARIN) get any respect?"

He will be remembered as the man who shoots like a horse kicking its hind legs up in the air.

Is he related to Cheech?

Seriously though I'll remember Shawn most for his weird *** shot.

There are really some immature kids on PSD. Marion was one of my most favourite players growing up. His skill set for a player his size was amazing for a player his size.

I'll remember Marion for his kickass defense on Durant and Lebron en route to a title. Seriously, also athletic as hell. If not for Cheap Shot Rob, he'd probably have a 2nd ring too.

He is not one of the best wing defenders of his generation. Maybe the most versatile but he was never an elite one on one defender

Honestly, one of the most overrated guys of his generation

Marion wasn't a special wing defender in his earlier and best days where he defended multiple positions in systems that didn't preach much D but he has grown into becoming a top 10 perimeter defensive player in his later days (much like Grant Hill in that regard) but at no point in Marion's career was he overrated.

Shawn Marion

I always got this guy in fantasy in the early 2000's because everyone always underrated him.

To me, in his prime, if your team didn't have a superstar SF like Lebron or Durant of today, he was THE next guy on the list. Simply because of how flexible he was. He can score without the ball, he was a very good shooter despite having one of the most messed up shooting strokes in NBA history. Very athletic, very good defender that can guard multiple positions, and a pretty solid rebounder to top it all off.

Overall, any championship contending team would drool over having a player of his caliber.
