Among the free agents remaining on the market is former Celtic Mickael Pietrus, who does not want to play for the league minimum. The Bucks had expressed interest in Pietrus but he remains without a team. The Celtics still have their $1.95 million biannual exception remaining but are expected to wait until close to the regular season to use that, perhaps on a player waived by another team

Play overseas...maybe Orlando, Cleveland, or Charlotte would be willing to give up greater than a minimum...i dont think any contender will offer better than min.

Then we won't be playing for a contender with a legitimate shot at winning. Simple as that.

He is probably the best FA left. Terrence Willams might be a better option for a non-contender team, but pietrus would work just fine in a contending team.

The Lakers still have $1.7M left of their MMLE (the other 1.4 went to Jodie Meeks).

Maybe 2 yr $3.4M for Pietrus, 2nd yr team option???

MMLE remainder: $1.59M to be exact. That's a little over the minimum. So I doubt that he agrees.

TMac and Barnes are still out there. Barnes have been playing for the minimum, and TMac would still love to be here, given the chance.

I would not be the least bit surprised if T-Mac ends up on the Lakers on a 1 yr minimum. But of course, that's wishful thinking, Front Office has to shown "some interest" in him first unlike past off seasons.

Always made me wonder why they havent even, at least, engaged in talks. I mean, were talking about the minimum here for someone who was once branded as one of the very best in the league and is still considered 'decent' ala Antawn Jamison.

Attention Lakers FO: This is for the minimum and the need for a RonRon back-up, should be addressed ASAP.

Weve conquered two teams and got their superstars for basically unecessary pieces, got AJ and Meeks for cheap, so we might as well go all out for multiple rings since were already here. Were in WIN MODE now.

We need you back Mitch, get those final pieces.

Pietrus isnt a vet min guy, plus doesnt celtiics have his bird rites why not sign him?

There are many Pietrus type players in the league, if he can be the player he was in Orlando, then he deserves a bigger contract but hes pretty washed up right now.

It's not like he's a scrub. He's a pretty nice bench guy. He definitely deserves more than the minimum.

Pietrus really isn't that good anymore, injured a lot, and all he does is stand on the three point line, drove me crazy watching him last year..

He's coming off an inconsistent, injury-prone season. I wouldn't give him more than the BAE (1.9?)

Pietrus is delusional.

Waived before last season, signed for vet min last season.

This guy is a bench player who camps out on the three point line and only hits 33% of those shots and takes almost 5 of them a game. To turn down 1$ million + seems silly on his part. Even on $#TTY teams he'd be coming off the bench.

He's worth more than the vet min... but he's just being a dick now IMO.

His agent came out last month saying teams were offering the min and how he would absolutely not play for the min. But you've made a ton of money already, you're in the NBA... suck it up and take the vet min for 1 year!

He's just being a spoiled baby at this point... i don't see teams lining up to pay more. He could go to a very good team in a very good situation and increase his value... but he rather whine and keep acting like he's above the vet min.

The reality is his market is drying up faster than his brain can process what his eyes are telling it. He's a declining player and can only help a team in spurts. No one should throw a big payday his way based on his recent past production or any future expectation. The Michael Jordan of France better get in where he fits in before the train departs without him.

He has to walk around with a night light just so people can see him

That's still too much for him IMO. He's a veteran min player at best. I don't even think the Lakers would go out and spend the rest of the $1.6M of their remaining MMLE on Pietrus. ALthough, as I've said, that is what probably could land him in a Lakers uniform.

The Lakers are (way) over the luxury tax, his salary would be doubled, he is not worth it.
