View Full Version : 5th Annual PSD Player Rankings #9 Center In The NBA? (Volume: V)

Mile High Champ

Hey guys, Some of you may remember that for the last four years I have conducted a poll at the end of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. The season is now over and the Heat have been crowned NBA champs which means its time to kick off the off-season player rankings.

A lot has changed since last season. Lebron was labelled by some as Choke Artist in the clutch and now this year had one of the greatest finals performances in recent memory. Let start the discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round. I have also included the results of those last 4 years so everyone can see how much things have changed...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best

Going with Cousins here, but I could see an argument for Hibbert over him. Cousins had an incredible finish over the last few weeks last year and seems to be really coming into his own as a top center.

Hibbert. Slightly overrated, but still the best one left, I would've picked him before Jefferson too. Bogut could be better, but he needs to prove he can stay health and back to his old form this season. And I'm sure both Cousins and Monroe will be better players, but you also have to consider Monroe could not be a center with the Piston drafting Drummond.

Moose was better than Boogie last year.

Moose was better than Boogie last year.

It's debatable. Monroe was more efficient, Boogie was a better rebounder and cleans up his misses anyway. I'd probably pick both over Hibbert.

Monroe was the better scorer, passer, and the better man to man defender as well. Sure it's debatable, but Monroe has a stronger case. Now if this thread was about who I would rather build around then that would be a different scenario; but Boogie hasn't shown me anything to suggest that he is better player than Moose so far.

With all things taken into consideration I got Roy Hibbert here. He was an essential part of Indiana's success this past season and really took his game up a notch.

agreed, this can't be overlooked. Just like Dirk shot up in rankings when he won the title.

DMC had some huge games late in the year on a horrible team when the games didn't matter anymore. That happens EVERY year to players especially on bad teams. I don't think you can use that to put him over Hibbert just yet.

I mean I remember Earl freakin Barron going on a tear in NY the last month a few years back.

I went with Greg Monroe... I'm a Detroit fan, so it's a bit of a homer pick, but I think he deserves a spot in the top ten. But part of me wanted to vote for Gortat as well. Both had great individual seasons despite being on non-playoff teams.

Monroe should be considered a PF. I think thats where he will be next year. I like Monroe just as much as cousins. Should be intresting Monroe Noah or Cousins at 10.

Hibbert should not still be on the list! And how is Al Horford the #7 best NBA center last season???? He played maybe 10 games

He is not better than Cousins, Monroe, Noah or Bogut. And you could also make a case for Gortat.

Why is Garnett considered a center, just because he played center one season? :pity:

These polls should only have players that play that position for 90% of their career. Thats like putting Lebron in the best point guard poll, just because he can play PG.

Pretty much. Not really a big deal considering the position somewhat lacks, and last I checked this is an annual poll where we're basing where everyone is ranked based on last season. KG played center for a good chunk of the year as well as Duncan, so we are where we are.

I still felt weird voting for KG as a center, and Ibaka as a PF. Heck even Al Jeff I think of as a PF.

I always thought of Duncan as a C though.

Next year will we be voting for Lebron as a PF and Bosh as a center?
