View Full Version : 5th Annual PSD Player Rankings #8 Center In The NBA? (Volume: V)

Mile High Champ

Hey guys, Some of you may remember that for the last four years I have conducted a poll at the end of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. The season is now over and the Heat have been crowned NBA champs which means its time to kick off the off-season player rankings.

A lot has changed since last season. Lebron was labelled by some as Choke Artist in the clutch and now this year had one of the greatest finals performances in recent memory. Let start the discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round. I have also included the results of those last 4 years so everyone can see how much things have changed...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best

Aguably better IMO but we don't know exactly how healthy he'll be again from here on out or whether or not he'd be limited from the injuries he sustained in recent years. Not a bad choice though.

A healthy Bogut is arguably top 3, I want to vote him now but I just can overlook guys like Hibbert and Jefferson. Poor Gortat may not even make the cut and hes been awesome for PHX.

Think Ill vote Hibbert just because Jefferson is already winning.

Al Jefferson - Roy Hibbert - DeMarcus Cousins rounds out my top 10 with Monroe, Gortat following them right outside the top 10.

Monroe for the 3rd time. I have a big brother attachment to him, because I always heard how he had no fire at Georgetown, and when I started watching him all the time, I didn't see that at all. So I am basically going to toot my horn as long as I can about being right on Monroe. So yeah, homer pick for the 3rd straight time.

These polls are making me realize, there are actually alot of very good centers in the NBA. There aren't many superstar centers like in the Ewing, Hakeem, Robinson, Mourning, Shaq...etc.. era. But there are a good 15-20 quality centers.

You can't go wrong here. There are guys that are not going to make top 10 that could easily have gone #8.

Not a big Al Jeff fan though.

Who are the fawking homers that voted for Lopez? Are you serious? He played two games this season and barely averaged 2 rebounds a game! WTF?!?!?!?!?!?

Oh... and who are the fawking homers that voted for Barnganin... 5.5 rebounds a game... for a STARTING CENTERS!!! THAT IS EMBARASSING!!!! I expected that out of a SG for crisssakes.

As good offensively*, better defensively. Now entering his best situation in 2012/13 GS alongside players that will highlight his game. I see Bogut as high as the #1 center in the NBA in 2012/13 if Dwight ends up injured. Although 3-4 is the most likely scenario. Two freak injuries (rolled ankle on a guys foot and a broken arm) do not make a player injury prone. I truly predict a monster 2013 for him. 15/12/3 on >50% from the field, top 3 in blocked shots and paint defense.

Al Jefferson and Demarcus Cousins should be on the 4th and 5th

Between Hibbert and Jefferson.

Talent wise, Cousins is #3 on this list.

I voted for Al Jefferson out of respect to his being a near 20-and-10 guy almost his entire career. He slipped down this far because he lacks athleticism, isn't very impressive defensively and is undersized as a center. Playing for the Jazz never helps you either.

lol i didn't vote for him but of all the remaining centers- he's the best scoring big man on the remaining players. Prime Bargnani would be 25,7,3. If we can get a guy who averages 10+ rebounds as the other big, it wouldn't matter if Bargs avgs less than 10 rebounds. sadly i don't know if JVal is that guy yet.

oh wells.

Cousins

25/7/3 is a pipe dream. He's never averaged any of those numbers and he's going on his 7th year +27 years old. I don't see it. He's also not particularly efficient and is a bottom 5 defensive center at the most important position to be a defensive stopper. I can't see his argument for the top 10 to be honest. He's essentially an oversized SF who can't pass, rebound or defend.

Pekovic is better than half of the people on that list at least, but I don't see him on there.
