Was that the same season that Kobe missed the playoffs, or did he get destroyed in the first round?

Missed the playoffs - 2005

Destroyed in the 1st round - 2007 vs PHX

This was 2006, where we eventually took a 3-1 lead on PHX in the 1st rd, and then couldn't close the deal as we basically choked as a young and experienced team outside of Kobe and Phil that yr, and lost the series in 7.

If you're gonna dis someone, atleast be a little more accurate in your attempt.

it was the year when Smush Parker, Luke Walton, Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown, Devon George, Chris Mihm, Brian Cook, and Sasha Vujacic were all top nine in most minutes played for the Lakers in the regular season.

At first glance, I can't remember a single player on this list who played a meaningful minute this past season. Amazing.

Didn't watch that game live, but saw it shortly thereafter. Funny thing is, until the 4th, I never even noticed any portions where he just took over, yet when they updated the stats, you were like, "wtf, he has HOW many points?"

I remember turning off the TV at half time and going to bed. The Raptors had the salami and cheese out, I thought we had that game in the bag.

I remember watching this live. I had an Astronomy mid-term the next day and decided to take a break to watch the first half of the Lakers game. Kobe had a great half while everyone else was horrendous. Then when he started taking over in the 2nd half, I just went nuts. My brother was upstairs watching a movie with his friends, and I was telling him "Kobe's on fire, he's going to score 60 or 70 points". He ignored me. I went back and finished watching the game, ran upstairs, told my brother that he's an idiot and that Kobe just scored 81. His reaction was priceless, so mad. I can't remember the movie he was watching but he told me it was horrible.

Great night for me! That astronomy test didn't go so well though

I remember chatting on another forum and the resident Laker hater, Sac_Town Kings or something like that was berating Kobe. NOBODY expected that onslaught.

This came like a few weeks after he dropped 62 when Tmac said "been there done that"
