View Full Version : 5th Annual PSD Player Rankings #2 Center In The NBA? (Volume: V)

Mile High Champ
08-22-2012, 05:57 PM
Hey guys, Some of you may remember that for the last four years I have conducted a poll at the end of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. The season is now over and the Heat have been crowned NBA champs which means its time to kick off the off-season player rankings.

A lot has changed since last season. Lebron was labelled by some as Choke Artist in the clutch and now this year had one of the greatest finals performances in recent memory. Let start the discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round. I have also included the results of those last 4 years so everyone can see how much things have changed...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best

This vote is going too lopsided in favor of Bynum. He's not nearly as obvious a choice as people make it seem.

Bynum then Garnett

Sportfan
08-22-2012, 06:33 PM
Should be Garnett, his impact is way bigger. He can anchor down a defense better than anyone left on the list. Can create his own shot and he can pass as well. All Bynum has is a better offensive repitore but that doesn't exactly make him better player on offense considering KG's leadership and efficiency

I would've voted for Asik just for the heck of it, but since he's not there gotta go with Bynum.

debatable, but i'd go bynomite. he stayed healthy and had a pretty good year. He'll put up 24-12 for Phili next year.

Wait if your counting Jefferson & Horford as Centers, no way in hell is Bynum one yr better than them, this is an outraged

If you think Chandler is the 3rd best center then you need to take off your homer glasses.

ive voted Howard #1 for several years in a row.
and bynum #2 two years in a row.

without checking the records, i'm pretty sure thats how I've voted. to answer your question, no i didn't switch based off who was on the Lakers at what time.

Love KG and he's a better overall defensive player than Bynum, better passer, more intelligent and sure as hell a better leader I have him at #3 however. IMO Bynum was flat out better during the entirety of the season KG stepped it up mid season when he was switched to the C almost exclusively and was even more impressive when the playoffs came around.

Bynum being an super efficient double double threat every night with stellar D gives him the nod for me. You cited KG's efficiency but Bynum is actually the more efficient scorer of the two. I mean just listen to what Doc said (http://philly.barstoolsports.com/around-barstool/doc-rivers-andrew-bynum-is-the-only-center-i-worry-about/) less than a week ago that Bynum was the only C that would cause KG any bother in the East.

Unlike most Bulls fans I'm not a homer so even I would agree that in many aspects he's better defensively than Bynum, not too sure about Tyson however. I'd still rank him above Asik in terms of overall defensive value.

Being a good defender DOES not make you a top player at your position especially when you have zero post up game, zero jump shot, cant shoot free throws, have really no offense, and one of the worst passing big men in the NBA aka Tyson Chandler.

actually he sort of is. Bynum makes a bigger defensive impact over anyone left on the list and he's slightly below Al Jeff offensively.

3 is where some great debates should happen.

if Bargnani was not in the PF discussion, he should be here. Bargnani and Brook Lopez are very close in terms of scoring, no defense, poor rebounding big men. Brook Lopez a more rim defender but Bargnani a better man defender.

If Lopez is top 10, Bargnani should be in consideration as well

 Baiting.

Marc Gasol and Kevin Garnett both had huge impacts on their teams. Both had to anchor their defenses without another top big in the rotation. J.O. (stinks/injured) and Randolph (injured) were huge disappointments. They are also both significantly better passers and shooters than Bynum.
