Phoenix Suns (1996-1998):

Drafted pick 15 (booed by Phoenix fans for being an unknown player)
2nd Season ranked 13th in the league for FG%

Dallas Mavericks (1998-2004):

2 Time All Star (2002, 2003)
2 Time All NBA Second Team (2002, 2003)
2002 Lionel Conacher Award

Phoenix Suns (2004-2012):

3 Time All NBA First Team (2005, 2006, 2007)
2 Time All NBA Second Team (2008, 2010)
2 Time League MVP (2005, 2006)
Arguably could've got a 2007 MVP too.
Would've come close to a ring had it not been for the horrific referees and dirty Robert Horry against the spurs
5 Time League Leader of Assists (2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011)
2 Time League Leader in FT% (2006, 2010)
4 Time 50-40-90 Club (1 of only 2 Players EVER, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010)
Lou Marsh Trophy (2005)
2 Time Lionel Conacher Award (2005, 2006)
2 Time Skills Challenge Championship (2005, 2010)
Greatest Phoenix Player of All Time

La Lakers (2012 - )

Lets Say:

League Leader of Assists 2-3 Times.
A Finals MVP
1-2 Rings (FIRST RING if so)
Most Influential and important player in the team and clearly shows.

Where would his jersey end up?

I'm a huge Steve Nash fan, but I have a pretty hard time thinking he could get the assist crown 2 more times (ie into his 40s), get a finals MVP, or be seen as the top player on a team where the spotlight will always be with Kobe and Dwight. Unless they get a three-peat or something, I don't see him getting it retired in LA.

Phoenix definitely.
If it were most teams I'd guess probably not to the Mavs, but I have a feeling Cuban could like Nash enough to make it happen.

Well... to be honest I wouldnt be surprised if he didn't get his jersey retired by any of the teams he played for. He didn't win anything in Dallas, just helped a team get into the playoffs. He had his best years in Pheonix, but again, they didn't win anything, not even a trip to the finals.

I do however think he may get his jersey retired by Toronto, him being Canadian and all, even though he's never played for them.

With the Suns he won consecutive MVPs, had 3 NBA first teams appearances, and 2 NBA second team appearances, won 3 division titles, got to 2 conference finals, and led the league in assists 5 times. It would be a huge shock if he didn't get his number retired there.

Just cause he didn't win a championship doesn't mean he won't get his number retired. He's the second best player in Suns history behind Charles Barkley, who also didn't win anything there, and has his number retired by both the Suns and Sixers. And Toronto??? I hope you weren't being serious.

That's just dumb, he won two mvp's in phoenix, 1 mvp should be an automatic jersey retirement. He's def gonna get it in phoenix.

The Lakers would have to win the ship the next 2 years for even a remote chance of his number retiring there.

Phx...absolutely.

Gotta be Phoenix. Didn't do enough in Dallas and LA would never give it to him, even if they win the next 2 chips with him running the show. It would be hard for them to justify it by putting his jersey up there with players like Magic, Kareem, Wilt etc, who played big parts if not all of their prime in LA.

For now you have to say Phoenix but lets say the makers 3peat and he leads the league in assists all 3 years then I think you can argue the lakers are a very possible destination for his retired jersey but I think it will be Phoenix.

Definitely Suns. Phoenix is where he truly established himself.

Not much of a thread. We're imagining three hypothetical successful seasons vs. 10 years and 2 league MVPs.

The Mavs retired Brad Davis and Rolando Blackman's numbers and both of them didn't win anything. Paul Westphal's the only NBA champion whose number's retired by the Suns and he won it playing for the Celtics.

I dont know if his jersey will get retired by any team. You ppl act like jerseys get retired just because ur good. It is HARD to get jerseys retired. Easier to get into the HOF.

Of current active NBA players, I can only see: Kobe Bryant, Paul Pierce, Dirk Nowitski, Tim Duncan getting their jerseys retired as of now.

EDIT: Misread the title.

Phoenix for sure. I don't think Dallas will since their best days came after he left during the Dirk era.
LA, he'll need to have a couple MVP years to do it (literally win the MVP)
