They aren't actually rolling out their aces. And Sabathia has an ERA around 7 since last year vs the Red Sox.

You know series means nothing or that this rivalry is dead when the Red Sox forum does not even have 1 page of posts and old IGT threads from previous series are still "stickied"

It made me curious:

Pedro vs NYY career: .211/.281/.323 - ranked 18th overall. I'd take that.

Also to any AG bashers: according to the latest numbers, AG is the 27th most valuable positional player in the AL to date this year. That's borderline AS. The way he's been going he could end up in the top 20. I think we all expected/hoped for top 10 if not top 5 (he was 9th last year), but, he's certainly not trade fodder.

He's still on pace to be the BRS best 1B of all time, or at least end in a rough tie with Foxx.

The thing that I assume has hurt his value in this regard is his slow start in the HR department, and his somewhat weak OBP. But he has seemed to get back on the beam HR-wise since he really started heating up since the ASG.

His K% rate is actually a smidge lower than the last 3 years. And his xBH% is very similar to last year. His BA is about what should be expected (last year was an outlier), but his BB% is down from 10.4% to 6.1% (he is never going to match the SD%'s due to him being the only threat in that line-up. His fielding is again GG level as well.

I do expect in the next two years to see this: .310/.400/.590 HR: 34 2B: 52

Foxx's rWAR w/ Sox: 5.8, 3.6, 7.5, 6.8, 4.7, 3.8, 1.0

AGnz's rWAR w/ Sox: 6.7, ~4.0

Foxx started with the Sox at age 28, Gonzalez 29. Foxx's years in Philly were a lot better (a rWAR run of: 7.4, 6.6, 4.3, 10.2, 9.0, 8.6, 8.0 - which is why he's a legend - that and starting at age 17, and his 2-1 WS record w/ the .344/.425/.609 slash), the alcohol really did a number on him in the 2nd half of his career. Yes, I'm confident AG > JF in his Boston years, but overall? No chance.

Theres always rookies that produce. Look at every contender for ROY each year. Lavarnway is 25, so hopefully he gets it going soon.
