View Full Version : Best bench in the NBA?

I was just looking at depth charts and was wondering who do you guys think has the best bench as of right now and why??

IndyHeatjman
08-15-2012, 06:01 AM
pacers, imo the deepest team.
PG- augustin
SG/PG- stephenson
SF/SG- green
PF- hansbrough
C- mahinmi
C/PF- plumlee(R)
SG johnson (R)
A solid second unit and two promising rookies to boot. Augustin could start just about anywhere, and Mahinmi is an athletic big. Stephenson was impressive in summer league along with Plumlee, Johnson still a question mark yet he has passion therefor potential. Green can be on ESPN SC Top 10 on any given night. And hansbrough was a NCAA Champion and put up solid numbers for pacers bench in his career.

I think SA
PMills/Neal
Ginobili/Green IDK Pop might start Manu
SJax
Blair/Bonner
Splitter

Another bench I like is LAC
Beldsoe
JCrawford
GHill
Odom
Hollins/Turiaf

There are other benches that compliment the starters better, but if say the NBA were having a bench vs bench game, I'd say these are the most talented benches right now. Other talented benches: Boston, Denver, Houston, Indiana, & Oklahoma City.

Nuggets is definitely up there,

Andre Miller, Julyan Stone
Corey Brewer, Jordan Hamilton, Evan Fournier
Wilson Chandler, Quincy Miller
Anthony Randolph
Timofey Mozgov, Kosta Koufos

since we're all being homers, celtics. but seriously though they do have a real deep team. terry one of the best 6th men, green who could start with most teams, lee or bradley both started last year, wilcox started a few games, sully will get solid rotation minutes. i'm not sayin its definitely the deepest but absolutely top 3.

Denver Nuggets have a solid bench, probably one of the deepest teams this year. They have two players that would most likely start on other teams in Chandler and Miller. Solid contributors with Brewer, Mozgov, Koufos. Plus they have the upside with Hamilton and Miller. Sixers and Knicks are looking good out East for depth as well.

Not saying we have the best bench, but I think the Raps bench could be top 10 next year. Valanciunas will probably start the season coming off the bench along with Ed Davis who had a great summer league, Kleiza who shined for Lithuania in the Olympics, 8th pick Terrence Ross and one of the best facilitators in the game in Calderon. Rouding out the bench we still have Gray who's a great depth big man and LucasIII who had a great season for the Bulls last year.

Its gotta be the nuggets in at least the west

Miller/Chandler could start for a lot of teams
Hamilton is gonna surprise a lot of people this year he was a beast in the summer league
Mozgov will be improved
Randolph may thrive in the system
Koufos has starting experience
Stone has crazy good defense
Fournier has upside
Brewer has great defense and fastbreak ability at times
Q. Miller has upside

legit starters on a lottery bound team. come on man. they really aren't that good individually. If you have Reggie evans starting, you're in trouble.

they aren't even close to being compared to the Nets current starting 5, let alone any starting 5.

lets start with my Raptors, last year they were lottery bound but right now, they wouldn't even touch the starting 5 for the Raps.

smith is a much better defender then u might believe. i watched him all season and he doesnt let anything by, just needs to work on seeing man and ball. i believe camby makes up for novaks pf defensive issues (were talking about a bench unit there are gunna be some flaws). no kidd isnt the same but if he was he would be getting much more money elsewhere, he still is a great defender and extremely crafty. and camby will no where to be and when to be there and will block his fair share of shots. they def have a top4 bench unit

It's close but I think the Celtics bench would beat Denver's bench in a game. Even the Clippers Bench would beat the Nuggets bench.

Patty Mills = Arroyo 2.0. He's amazing in FIBA and Olympics but doesn't do much in the NBA.

Patty will kick some serious tail when he's given a real shot to run an offense. The kid's got talent.

I'm not sure, but you might have seen the players or the team on National TV. Nov 1st should be the date you mark down, just saying.

Edit: Wrong post, sorry.

O(F)C(ourse) they have flaws, but when it comes playoff time, you have to perform better then you did in the RS. Look at the Heat in Game 5.

Obviously everyone has to play better, thats the only way to win. I dont understand why you pointed out the Knicks bench player's flaws like every teams bench doesnt have the same flaws.

Just seemed silly to call out the Knicks when every single team has flaws, and every single team role player's need to step up as well.

Date's already in the calendar mate. Seriously looking forward to it! :)

No offence intended though, you guys will have a decent starting unit, but don't think your bench is capable of going toe to toe with the majority of the league.

Agreed.

Plus as far as flaws in the second unit go, I'm pretty happy with the ones we're running with this year. I think we've backed up nicely at every position.

The Nuggets and Clippers have the best benches... but thats just my opinon. The Sixers, Knicks and Celtics are right there. The Nets and Lakers have awful benches... I have no idea what u guys are talking about.

I read the first page, a little surprised no one mentioned the C's
Bradley or Lee (whoever doesn't start once Bradley comes back)
Terry
Green
Wilcox
Rookies Sullinger and Melo

HELL NO. that bench, if starting, is a 20 win team LOL at best
******** statement. There has probably never been a team in modern history that would fare much better than 20 wins if their whole entire starting 5 were removed.

Barely any love for the Warriors, we have two players that started last year on our bench
Jarret Jack- One of the best all round back up point guard
Rush- Almost 50% 3point shooting, above average defense and shoot blocker
Jefferson- Good 3point shooting, has some slashing ability
Carl Landry- Great scoring and toughness
Festus Ezeli- Good athleticism and defense, obviously still has questions as a rookie

Draymond Green- very good all around player and has a lot of skill for a rookie

I like the nuggets too, Chandler and Miller although older still could be starting

I'll wait and see on Hamilton don't trust summer league ever since ex warrior players Randolph, Morrow and Bellineli all scored 40.

Also want to see if their frontcourt can score next season how much better Mcgee and Faried improves.

Nets legit starters at every position

CJ Watson- started most games for Bulls this year
Marshon Brooks-Started all games for Nets last year
Keith Bogans-started for the Bulls 2 seasons ago
Mizar Teletovic- Legit NBA player, great scorer
Reggie Evans- hustle hustle hustle

raps aren't the best but the still have a solid bench that could turn out to be scary with so many questions.
calderon of the bench will make the 2nd unit much better
ross can contribute right away, could surprise people
kleiza finally healthy and can score in bunches
ed davis first full off season should see some big improvement
valanicunas will contirbute right away good pick and roll with calderon

Charlotte Bobcats. Only team in the NBA where you could replace the starting lineup with the bench and still end up with the same win/loss record. Now that takes talent :)

I did read the context. Original poster said almost a starting five. He didn't say a starting five that could compete, or even a starting five that would make the playoffs. Four of the five players mentioned could start on a lot of teams. To me that equates to ALMOST a starting five.

:clap::clap: thanks bro you took the words right out of my mouth i said Almost a starting 5 kidd was suppose to resign with the mavs to be the starter brewer was just starting on the bulls last year who put up the best record in the east Jr Smith could've easily took more money to start for another team camby could still start for a number of teams that have no center and now this one is a if cuz we haven't signed him yet but KMart could definitely still be starting in this league even at his age but even if we don't sign him thats still four out of five bench players that could start in this league and still be productive
