Who do you think will win Defensive Player of the Year for the 2012-13 Season? Will Tyson Repeat? Will Dwight recieve his fourth? Will Josh Smith or Ibaka pull it out finally? You decide.

Mock Season: 2012-13
MVP:Kevin Durant

I can't see Dwight winning it since he will be gone until Jan I believe.

In order I'd guess

1 - LeBron
2 - Tyson Chandler
3 - Serge Ibaka

Lebron or Chandler I think.

Even if Howard returned earlier, he is probably gonna get the same treatment by the voters that Lebron did in his first year in Miami. Even if he posts up great numbers, people will vote against him (like Lebron for MVP).

Ibaka even being considered for this award is a joke. It's like saying Monta Ellis is a great defender just cause he steals the ball a fair bit. He needs to develop a strong post game too (E.g. Marcus Camby).

Lol at people who think Ibaka/Smith are DPOY players. Blocking shots is called help defense. Ibaka would have to actually be an all around defender to win it. Which he is not.

It's either Howard or Chandler even LeBron. Both Tyson and Dwight are Top 2 in paint defense. I'm going to say Tyson because he's playing with a major chip on his shoulder over the Defensive 1st team snub.

LeBron won't win DPOY unless the Heat show signs that they are poor defensively when he's off the court and LeBron is always healthy. LeBron will just win another MVP.

All around defense = on ball defense, help defense, one on one post defense, defensive rebounding, locking down the best players defensively, denying penetrating guards.

Ibaka simply blocks shots. That's it.

Dwight Howard, Tyson Chandler can keep change a defensive culture. Ibaka cannot. If Ibaka was THAT good, they wouldn't have traded for Perkins and Mohammad.

Definitively no for Ibaka, he has some nice qualities, but he's far from top level.

Tyson Chandler was really impressive last couple of years. He kind of came out of nowhere, could've ended up as another average center, if injuries plagued him, or if he got lazy. But instead, he elevated his career. DPOY award, US Olympic team(most likely getting a gold medal here), a championship with Dallas(clearly he made a major impact). He also got himself some nice money last year from NY. He can be proud of his achievements one day.

While I don't think Ibaka should or will win people are acting like its impossible I clearly remember Marcus Camby winning the award not very long ago and Ibaka is like a Camby clone with poorer rebounding.

I chose LeBron.

Not trying to sound like a homer, but KG should be up there. Especially after his performance in the playoffs and at the end of the regular season.

Lebron at 1st thought then Chandler if the Knicks can have a great season. Dwight out half the yr so dont think thats an option

I wouldnt be surprised to see Lebron get it this yr. Chandler has a good chance to win it again if the Knicks become a even better defensive team this yr and finish top 4.

KG is not far fetched to be there. His will depend on how much of the season he plays.

Elton Brand, Iggy, KG, Lebron and Dwight were probably the best defenders I saw last season. And overall KG is smarter and better than just about everyone. I don't think he drops off drastically either - he'll still be a top 5 defender. Ibaka's really not a top 10 defender yet - his man to man is still weak relative to the elite - but it's definitely improving and might actually get there next season. One of the best shot blockers in NBA history though. His block% of 9.8 was the highest since a young Manut Bol in the 80's. And it's a stretch to even call Manut a human.

If I'm betting I'd take Lebron next season as DPOY - KD as MVP.

the voters will find a way to get lebron this DPOY award, regardless of if he deserves it or not.

I'd like somebody completely left field to win it. Like Garnett, Tony Allen(who's severely underrated), Sefolosha, or even Chandler again. Hell, i'd even like for Bynum to improve his defense so much that he wins it.
