View Full Version : If you could trade one starter for any non All Star who would it be?

As the title says, you have the power to trade any projected starter on your team (no matter how bad he is) for any player in the league who did NOT make the All-Star team last year.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_NBA_All-Star_Game

Three questions:
Which player would improve your team's record the most for THIS season?
Who would you trade to keep for the next THREE seasons?
How many more wins do you think your team would get?

Brooklyn Nets: Trade Kris Humphries for Kevin Garnett for THIS season and Serge Ibaka for three seasons

Deron Williams
Joe Johnson
Gerald Wallace
Kevin Garnett (Serge Ibaka for 3 seasons)
Brook Lopez

Remember can't pick any player who made the team (click that link). KG would be EXACTLY what we need on our team as a veteran defensive captain. My prediction for win total this season is about 46-48 wins. I think a HEALTHY KG alone could bump us up to 54-55 wins if not more (after developing chemistry). Who would you trade for?

Talk about an athletic team! Even though Monroe isn't label has super atheltic he still gets up and down (and throw is down). Not to mention Knight has added 13 lbs while his BF% has gone down. Saw a video of Monroe working out and he seems a bit more cut.

Which player would improve your team's record the most for THIS season?

Ben Gordon -> James Harden for 17 wins (24-58)

Brandon Bass for Tim Duncan (this season). This probably doesn't make all that much sense, but this is a fun thread and I'm having fun by imagining two of my favorite players ever playing together in the paint.

Rondo/Dooling
Bradley/Terry/Lee
Pierce/Green
Garnett/Wilcox/Sullinger
Duncan/Collins/Melo

For the next three seasons: Brandon Bass for Al Jefferson. 20-10 guy, very good post scorer, and he was fun to watch develop in Boston early in his career. I bet he'd be more efficient on a team like the C's where there is a great passing point guard and lots of capable shooters.

Pierce/Green
Garnett/Wilcox/Sullinger
Jefferson/Collins/Melo

Your second comment (Davis) makes sense but Kyrie for Joel?

1. I wouldn't even count him as a starter since he BARELY played the entire playoffs.
2. Even with this trade you have Rashard Lewis starting over Battier? If you thin Battier is washed up, Rashard is miles ahead of him. With that small, lineup you NEED battier's defense. What does Rashard provide now? 3's and floor spacing. Battier can knock down some 3's..
3. That front court of Lewis/Bosh would not stand a chance against Randolph/Gasol, Gasol/Bynum, etc.
4. How is the ball going to be shared between Kyrie and Lebron? Both thrive when they have the ball. Wade has matured into playing away from the ball but even he handles it some of the time. Having Kyrie in the picture would complicate things even more.

Again the Davis trade makes much more sense than Kyrie

I completely disagree with 1-4.
1. he started the whole regular season so thats good enough for me.
2. It doesnt really matter if its Rashard or Battier. Rashard can hit 3's and hes 6'10 and playing with Bosh, Lebron, and Wade will rejuvenate him and make him much more effective in all areas of his game.
3. Bosh can outplay any center in the NBA, so your really only talking about Rashard. Rashard will stay outside the ark on offense which will put him and the rest of Miami at a distinct advantage against the other PF you refer to. Defensively Lebron can guard anyone to big for Rashard.
4. You need to think a little more outside the box. having Kyrie means that Lebron and Wade will get much more rest time because they will have a serious scoring/assist threat on the court in Kyrie. With Kyrie there is an infinite possibility of lineups. The benefit Kyrie brings to the Heat when Lebron, Wade, or both are off the court far out way the "only one ball" theory that doesnt even exist. Now when there all on the court, please, they will literally run anyone and everyone out of the gym. Lebron over facilitates, and Kyrie is a beast passer as well. They would all make each other better, and it would make Lebron's life so much easier because he would never have to handle the ball. He can float around and roam free while Kyrie sets Wade, Lebron, and Bosh up all game long. Now obviously Bron will handle the rock, but now he can do whatever he wants whenever he wants. Plus Kyrie has a great 3 point shot, for when Lebron drives and kicks. Kyrie has a great penetration and he can kick out to all those 3 point shooters the heat have. For players with a high b-ball IQ like Bron, Wade, Bosh... the addition of Kyrie would make them exponentially better. Its not even a question man.
