View Full Version : 5th Annual PSD Player Rankings #10 SF In The NBA? (Volume: V)

Hey guys, Some of you may remember that for the last four years I have conducted a poll at the end of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. The season is now over and the Heat have been crowned NBA champs which means its time to kick off the off-season player rankings.

A lot has changed since last season. Lebron was labelled by some as Choke Artist in the clutch and now this year had one of the greatest finals performances in recent memory. Let start the discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round. I have also included the results of those last 4 years so everyone can see how much things have changed...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best

Despite the fact that Batum struggled defensively this season, he is still my pick here. Wallace has no business being in the top as he continues to be one of the most overrated players in the league.

Batum here for me.....G-Wall might have a case, but I just think Batum is the better all around player.

Huge Batum fan though. Could see him leapfrog to around 7th this season. First full season as the starter.

No way Wallace should be top ten, not only is he overrated he had a terrible season, his team(s) didn't even do good

I'd vote Wallace BUT...he truly did have a pretty bad season. On top of that, his age has affected his game somewhat. He's on his way down and I believe that AT THIS POINT he's fallen enough to warrant being outside the top 10.

Still, I do like Wallace and hope he rebounds to his superb defense of 2 steals/2 blocks a game while doing good on offense. on the bobcats, he was great. Its just last year...ehhhh

It'll be Kawhi Leonard next year - went Batum though. G-Force really is not a great player now that his defense is not elite.

I'd probably have to go with Batum. Wallace has definitely lost a step.

Went Leonard now. I feel Batum regressed a lot defensively this past season.

Batum here, I think Wallace continues his slide. I will say, I almost choose Leonard going into this season. He is going to be a very, very good player on both ends.

I actually like Leonard above Batum at 10, but idk if that's too early to say right now.

How did Tyreke Evans get on here as a Small Forward?

He should be listed as a Shooting Guard.

There is certainly a case for Batum here. I went with Gerald Wallace because he's as good a scorer, and a better rebounder and passer. Both are solid on defence, and though Wallace's season wasn't as good as some other seasons, I think that is in part due to the fact that he spent most of the season on the trading block (and we all know that coaches don't like playing guys on the trading block) and then had to fit into a new system. With a little experience with the new system this past season and a full training camp, he should be back on top of his game next season. I think my choice may be based more on what I know Wallace is capable of, and not his actual productivety, which is perhaps unfair to Batum (who is the better shooter of the two).

Both are solid guys though and I wouldn't argue with anybody who picked Batum.

Batum is easily one of the more overrated players this past season.

He was a mediocre defender and incredibly streaky offensively. He has no consistency in his game yet, and he didn't give a crap on the defensive end.

He wasn't nearly the lockdown defender that some people try to make him out to be.

by the way, Kirilenko may not be in this poll, but he would go around here, or one spot higher.

Portland was a mess, all of their players ended up quitting at some point. But in reality, we are voting for a player who isn't near all star level here.

Has he really dropped off that much?

Hawkeye15

Has he really dropped off that much?

He has, especially defensively. He was an elite defender for a few seasons, now he is barely above average. He used to hold his man to around a PER of 14, which is pretty good, with defensive ratings and synergy numbers that put him in the top 1/3 of all defenders. Last year he was giving up nearly a PER of 18, with a career low defensive rating, along with synergy numbers that put him right in the middle of the NBA. Offensively, he has dropped under the 53% TS threshold, which is average.

He didn't fall off a cliff this year, its been a 3 year gradual decline from his attacking type of play. At age 30, his body resembles an older player now.

Damn :( He always was my favorite Bobcat. But i always knew his style of play would wear his body down quickly. I just didnt think it would be this quick

How good would you put Gerald Wallace's defense in his prime? And you dont think he is a good player anymore?
