@NBARUMORS: Dallas and Orlando had exploratory talks last week regarding Dwight Howard and "will probably talk again,'' Mavs GM Donnie Nelson confirmed..

That would be funny if they trade him to Dallas.

Trading him for investment tips from Cuban obv, Dallas has nothing.

lol what would they even send? I'm guessing Mayo and Collison would be the center of the package.
Most likely ORL just trying to get any sort of leverage.

this is actually a good indication that the magic will get a trade done pretty soon. they are having talks with teams but not letting anyone know. I think since they found out who was leaking all of the rumors (dwights manager), they are not letting him know about the talks.

I expect something to get done by early august, 3 way trade with the lakers, magic, and another team..... still believe it will be the rockets as the third team.

A lot more to the story than just that....

Meanwhile, FOXSportsSouthwest.com has learned that Nelson and Hennigan visited last week about a Dwight Howard trade. But …

"There's just not much there (in terms of a Mavs-Magic trade to be done in 2012),'' Nelson tells us.

Nelson suggests that there are offers on the table for Dwight that "trump'' what Dallas can present now or in the near future, which includes expiring contracts, the promise of cap space, and maybe the willingness to take back contract ballast.

An NBA source tells DallasBasketball.com that Orlando believes its offer from the Lakers is the superior one (it can involve Andrew Bynum). But if it was sufficient enough, Orlando would be pulling the trigger. Instead, it continues to attempt to work with Dwight, who is a free agent next summer and clearly now has little intention of re-signing with the Magic.

Talking with a team who has nothing to offer when you're in a rush to trade dwight...

Hennigan being dumber every single day.

They finally might be willing to pull the trigger huh? That's good news for everyone.
I still got my money on a ORL/LA/HOU 3-team trade in the next 10 days.

Its just a matter of time before the magic get serious and decide to pull the trigger now rather than later. They don't want this trade to prevent them from building a team.

Dallas should just keep hoping that Orlando decides to keep him on the bench and tank, then they get him in the offseason lol. I still cant picture a scenario where Dwight gets somewhere besides LA with some help from Houston/Cleveland.

Meh, this is just a way to get leverage in the future.

He would be signing in Dallas anyways next summer so it just secures him there 11 months in advance.

I rather us not trade for D12 & just acquire him via FA nxt season if somehow that even becomes possible, I dont want NONE of Orlando's bad contracts...I like what we have right now and I wouldn't give it all up to have Dirk, dwight and a bunch of bad contracts unlike some other team in texas I know...

no if he gets traded to BK or LA he will stay, a trade with dallas will not happen + orlando will never just put him on the bench and tank.
So it's like the dwill situation at the end nothing will happen for dallas

I know, I meant if he's traded to houston, but i think we could still possibly win if he's traded to LA w/ maybe landing bynum via FA w/ a max because something tell's me he wont resign w/ Orlando....Now if D12 goes to BK were screwed... so im not getting my hopes up but at the same time im not writing us off

means nothing, dallas probably asked if orlando wanted their garbage and orlando laughed.

Trading with Lakers in a 3 team trade is the best option but Mavs are way better option than Nets

Just like Brook Lopez....

Mavs can trade our new players for Dwight after January

Difference with the Nets, we can take back Turk and Richardson and give them a lot of expiring and Mayo, Marion, Kaman, Roddy, Cunningham and others

Better than only getting Lopez and KEEPING all the bad contracts

personal howard is not so much better than bynum so one of them for us would be damn nice
