View Full Version : 5th Annual PSD Player Rankings #5 SF In The NBA? (Volume: V)

Mile High Champ
07-26-2012, 12:38 PM
Hey guys, Some of you may remember that for the last four years I have conducted a poll at the end of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. The season is now over and the Heat have been crowned NBA champs which means its time to kick off the off-season player rankings.

A lot has changed since last season. Lebron was labelled by some as Choke Artist in the clutch and now this year had one of the greatest finals performances in recent memory. Let start the discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round. I have also included the results of those last 4 years so everyone can see how much things have changed...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best

There should just be a big space here for 5 and 6 and start back off at 7. Huge gap between Pierce and whoever is #5

Iggy by a considerable margin here, for me.

I'd say Gay, Granger, and Deng fight it out for #6-#8.

Yeah I don't know how the superior player gets ranked ahead either. Mind-boggling.

Iggy is vastly overrated while Pierce is being vastly underrated on this thread imo. Why was Pierce VS Iggy even a discussion? Pierce >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Iggy. Pierce is a proven playoff performer, who can come up big any moment. Iggy struggles to score more than 20 a night on a team that doesn't have a lot of offense power. Pierce can score 30+ on a team that has 3 other key players to share with.
As for this poll, I took Gay, tho him Iggy & Granger can all be debated.

There is a big fall from 4 to 5. Not one of these players are experienced or playoff proven. 5/6/7 are all close; Iggy, Gay, Granger. Just think Iggy is getting overrated on this site, he's good, but he's nowhere near Pierce, and Gay/Granger can make a case being better than him.

Deng is better than Iggy. Why is evans on this list? thought he was a 1or2

This should be Iggy. But man Granger is very underrated on this site while Rudy Gay his horribly overrated. People actually believe these 2 are close when if you really look into it, they aren't at all close. Deng and Granger are close and either could go next. However after those 2, there's a dropoff, then maybe Gay or maybe not. Dude is overrated.

I consider you a smart poster Bruno so how do you come to the conclusion that Gay is anywhere near Granger?

http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&p1=grangda01&y1=2012&p2=gayru01&y2=2012&p3=denglu01&y3=2012

Granger is better defensively too (don't let DRtg fool you). Actually, I didn't realize Deng was offensively not good at all. His defense would give him a legit argument though. These are just the surface stats though. Once you look at other stats like adjusted +/- that measure intangibles/impact, Granger comes out ahead rather easily.

Did this poll skip right to number 4?

I voted Rudy Gay here, but I'm not sure why. Iggy is the best available.
