Who will be the PG that will come out of the blue and be a good leader?
Last Year was Rondo and i think this Year it will be Lin or Gragic(again).

Breakout or leader? Seems like you're asking two different things. Purely breakout I would have to say Mr. Eric Bledsoe should be the man on everyone's radar. He should get solid minutes with the Clippers sending Mo off to Utah.

^Breakout.

Ty Lawson has been improving every season, and I'm hopeful this will be the year he makes that big stride. Sharing minutes with Andre Miller, though, does make it harder for him to carve out his own niche. But he still will have no chance at becoming an All-Star, with Lin almost certainly locking up the fan voting, and then CP3 and RW pretty much shoe-ins for the remaining selections.

I think with the veterans added in Washington, along with Beal who plays like a veteran, Wall is going to start making better decisions and show some real improvement.

i think it will either be jru holliday or jeff teague like the 2 above me stated....wacthing them in the playoffs against my celtics, got them on the radar.....jru holliday is all around good, he can score and he's a great passer......and jeff teague is just flat out good, kinda like westbrook, and with no joe johnson i believe he will step up big time

But to answer your question I would say Dragic running the show in Phoenix.

Teague was worth 6 win shares and 16 PER in his first full season as the starter. With more freedom/responsibility on offense now that Joe is gone, I think (hope) he can take that next step, especially since this will be his RFA year. As far as elite guys, I'll say Irving and maybe Wall if he and Beal mesh quickly, which they should.

Im going to say Damian Lilliard. Im a fan of his game and feel he will be top 3 in rookie votes for Rookie of the Year if not win Rookie of the year. He just scores with ease and also gets he teammates involved. He will make a name for himself this year.

For a non rookie pick though, i would have to say Jeremy Lin. I kno last year was kind of a breakout but alot of people still calling him suck. Well i look for him to come out and take better control of the ball, be more efficient and score the ball well making it known that last year wasnt a fluke.

John Wall too. He has some pretty good players to play with now and i see him leading Washington to a playoff apperance.

Watchout for Stephon Curry too. If he can stay healthy, he could breakout also becuz he will have the ball in his hands most of the time now without Monta.

rurichie
07-25-2012, 07:57 AM
Deron Williams his entired backcourt is really good now with Cj Watson, MarShon Brooks, Joe Johnson, Keith Bogans. Plus you have Wallace and Teletovic(who can shoot)

dee279

unleashthebeast

John Wall finally has the pieces around him to make some noise this year. 2 good defensive players in Okafor/Ariza, a very nice offensive player with Nene, and a sharpshooter with Beal.

If Wall plays up to his potential this year, they will be a playoff team. Wall has to carry them though.

I would vote for Wall, and I am really pulling for him this year.

Kyle lowry. I think he will fit in toronto much better than houston

jets33
07-25-2012, 10:17 AM
It won't be rubio. He's coming off of injury and doesn't have a full season under his belt so he'll need time to get back in to the flow of the NBA. I hope Kyle Lowry can do it. Let's be honest though. The only point guards with the tools and athleticism to reach the top tier (Rondo, Paul, Williams, Westbrook) are Wall and Irving.

How was Rondo a breakout player??? He already was a star in the league. And people picking Kyrie Irving , John Wall, Ty Lawson, and Ricky Rubio??? Seriously? They ALREADY are stars...way to go out on a limb? A breakout player is someone who go from being average/good to great. A real pick would be someone like Brandon Knight or Kemba Walker...someone who isnt viewed as a top tier talent. That's the point of using the word "breakout"

Breakout player: Brian Roberts, no one knows who he is but he's been by far our most productive PG and just hit a clutch go ahead basket. not a lot you can take out of preseason but this kid looks promising.

breakout leader. Austin Rivers: not a lot of people high on him as a point guard but he's one of the most humble kids ive seen in a while and he's very confident (which people mistake for cocky)

as a son of a coach he's very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the NBA at such a yound age.

My homer pick of Jrue Holiday would be a good one but an even better pick IMO would be Ty Lawson. Dude just went off in the post season and has played at a higher level than any of the other PGs being discussed here. Guys like Dragic, Lowry, Teague, Kyrie are all good choices as well. Wall and Rubio are my dudes but I'll hold back on choosing them due to the fact that they'll be missing considerable time due to injury.

Also why are people picking rookies?

rondo was not a break out pg last season lol
you're getting excited over the one series he had with miami and using those 7 games as if that was his breakout year when the guy barely averaged 11 and 11.

anyways.. lol this year would probably be between Ty Lawson, John Wall, Rubio, or Irving.

Breakout... Norris Cole

I think this kid is going to be amazing, his heart & playing style on the court will naturally earn respect among his teammates.

He has the skills to take over quarters, he just needs the playing time.

You can tell that he just doesn't want to be another guy on the team, this kid is a winner & a leader on the court. ( The HEAT already have leaders of course, but it never hurts to have more players with heart .)

Jeff Teague maybe. No Joe Johnson in the backcourt.

yeah, that should DEFINITELY help not just Teague, but every other player on the Hawks as individuals, and the hawks as a team. Joe Johnson was a very talented player, but a horrible player to have on a team. He turned the ball over way too much, took too many shots, and was just not a good player to have as the centerpiece of a team. Life should be a lot easier for all of the Hawks.....except for Josh Smith if he's shooting outside of 10 feet. Josh Smith is a horrific outside shooter.

Rondo already broke out like 2 seasons ago. he is what he is right now. he's probably not going to have a better jump shot but the dude is clearly one of the best PGs in the league. how can you say Rondo is going to have a breakout season when he's at the top 5 of his position for like 2 years now?? even 3 years some people might say.

Im_in_Mia_bish
10-13-2012, 11:34 AM
This is what cracks me up explain how he wasnt because he doesnt score,He plays the PG role better than almost aanyone, he plays like a true point.

lol you guys really need to do your research before you comment.

In 08-09 (when rondo officially had his break out year), he went from 11 points and 5 assists (in 07-08), to 12 points and 8 assists.

but no, because apparently "he plays the PG role better than almost anyone, he plays like a true point." is the reason why 2011-2012 was his breakout year when he went 11 and 11. LOL

Rondo 06-07- 6 and 4.
Rondo 07-08- 11 and 5
Rondo 08-09- 12 and 8
Rondo 09-10- 14 and 10
Rondo 10-11- 11 and 11
Rondo 11-12- 11 and 12.

Apparently according to Einstein over here, his 2011-2012 was his break out year. LOL, regardless of the fact that analysts all agreed that 09 was when it started being "Rondo's team" and that late in the 09-10 season, the people were saying the Celtics would go as far as "Rondo took them."

lol silly people.
