For whatever reason do you believe that they should have an asterisk next to their championship?

Of course. It was rigged.

Yes, the refs got paid more than Jeremy Lin's 3rd year with the Rockets.

can't believe i am saying this about the Heat but if it was a 20 game season or an 82 game season. A championship is a championship. If that was the case then Houston should have one too because of the last lock out shorten season

You mean the Spurs....

And the Houston rockets should have two asterisk because they won 1 when Jordan wasn't playing and another when Jordan came back late and orlando beat them... You see how ridicules it sounds

Even though lebron was created and not born I say no asterisk. I think the tagalong twins (Howard and curry) should receive certificates of participation.

BKLYNpigeon

who cares. Heat didnt do anything illegal or against the rules. what they did was just DIRTY, I think alot of people have lost respect for them. The Heat will be known more for conspiring to team up together then how many titles they win.

Whenever you bring up how many titles Lebron James has won it will always be followed with, "yeah but...."

Why? Because the WHOLE league played 16 games less in the regular season? Every team had a shot to play for the finals. Heat came out on top!

thenaj17
07-18-2012, 11:04 AM
No way. Don't like the Heat but they played the same amount of reg season games as everyone else and the normal full postseason (if you're coming from the Phil Jackson lockout reason)

And if you're saying it's because they 'joined forces', so what? A free agent has a right to go where they please (unless Stern owns a team involved ;) lol) and the players on the roster took less money to make it happen, which i actually commend them for. Too many athletes put money first, ahead of winning and the love of the sport.

All I can say is how much does Wade have to think about the fact that HIS team was a perennial 5th seed unless he had Shaq or Lebron? Ouch.

Your team won. I get it. I am not mad, and I give the champs the respect they deserve.

Are you comparing Gasol to Lebron James? Gasol's been an All-NBA second team once and never a first team. He's an all star only 1/3 of his career. Sorry but the most recent Laker championships don't come close to comparing to this last Heat one.

The arguments would be:

1. Shortened season
2. Injuries that made it easier for them in the east

Regarding 1: Every team had the same shortened season
Regarding 2: They played the cards they were dealt. They beat OKC who was superior to all East teams when healthy.

I chose no. If you chose yes then make sure you put an asterisk next to the '99 Spurs.

Redbull
07-18-2012, 11:29 AM
No. Everybody played the same amount of games and had the same chance to win so you can't take anything away from them, the best team won and that's all it is.

Actually, I do put an asterisk next to the Spurs '99 season. I'm not saying that asterisk cheapens their season but it should be noted it was a shortened season. Would the Heat have won it all this year if the season was 82 games? We will never know.

hievan
07-18-2012, 11:37 AM
I thought there had to be an asterisk because of the shortened season? Or atleast some mention. Not saying i care i just thought it had to happen regardless of who won this season

07-18-2012, 11:37 AM
Every team played 66 games......every team had injury problems but some were more severe than the others (Bulls, Clippers) but tough luck, Miami could have won the 05 title also if Wade didnt go down in game 5 in the East finals.

Just stop! Your argument really sucks!

First of all, it doesn't matter what top players join each other on a TEAM they are still all star players, and it takes a TEAM to win a chip! The Dallas mavericks played like a team and beat the HEAT with the top 5 players like you said.

Joker55
07-18-2012, 11:45 AM
Absolutely not.

I put a mental asterisk on the chip that the Spurs won in a shortened season.

Nope. Lebron played his tail off. Everything is legit about this championship.

Depends on how you want to look at it. Considering two of the top 5 players in the league were out for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference alone including the team with the best record then that would be your only case to hold against them. But then again no one holds it against Houston in 1994 when Seattle was knocked out in round 1 nor do they hold it against SA in 2007 when Dallas was knocked out in round 1. The only thing that makes it an asterick is that the teams that would have given them the best comp had there best player out (Rose and Dwight)

Yes cause rose did such a great job of making us lose 1 whole game in the playoffs last year lol.

That's one of the lamest reasons I love laughing at.

Also it's not like the on the brink of imploding magic were gonna beat a championship team.

Hell Indiana and Boston get much more credit for being tough opponents than Chicago or orlando ever were to us.

Get out of here with that lame excuse.
