Not outraged or shocked as this comes the day LA and Orlando meet to talk with Jrich or Turk as added baggage. Whoever is the extra with Dwight they will need minutes behind Kobe and Rom in a split, and Hill and the wouldn't be happy with 10-15 minutes, nor would it be cost effective

12:21pm: The Clippers will add Hill using either the bi-annual exception or a sign-and-trade, meaning he'll make more than the minimum salary, tweets SI.com's Sam Amick. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports adds that it'll be a two-year contract.

11:40am: The Clippers have reached an agreement to sign Grant Hill, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports (via Twitter). John Gambadoro of 620 KTAR Phoenix first tweeted that Hill was headed to the Clippers. Wojnarowski adds (via Twitter) that the two sides are still finalizing the details of the contract, but says Hill has committed to sign with Los Angeles.
It seemed over the weekend that Hill had narrowed his options to the Knicks, Lakers, and Heat. However, Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro met with Hill on Sunday to discuss the possibility of signing with the Clips, and apparently made an impression on the 39-year-old. According to Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld (via Twitter), the Nets had also been in the mix for Hill, but the veteran forward would only have signed in Brooklyn if the team had been able to acquire Dwight Howard.

With their mid-level exception committed to Jamal Crawford, the Clippers could sign Hill using their bi-annual exception or the veteran's minimum. If the Suns were willing to work out a sign-and-trade, that would be another option, though L.A. would likely want to include Ryan Gomes and his $4MM in such a deal.

Hill will turn 40 before the 2012/13 regular season gets underway, and set career-lows in a number of statistical categories in 2011/12. However, he still provided modest production, averaging 10.2 PPG and 12.3 PER in 49 games for the Suns. In Los Angeles, he'll presumably be relied upon for fewer than the 28.1 minutes per game he played in Phoenix last year.

If I do remember correctly, This "Great" bench they have of Bledsoe, Crawford, Odom, and Butler, Odom was horrible last year, Crawford was terrible last year, Bledsoe wasn't as good as his rookie year, and Butler was pretty bad last year, but hey let's just remember their good years.

Hill should start, when he tried coming off the bench for the Suns he didn't play great. Because of his age he needs to get going early so he doesn't cool down sitting on the bench.

IronMan21

Clippers made some great additions. They have a contending team and Blake Griffin should improve even more. He's still young.

BayAreaSoldier
07-17-2012, 03:48 PM
They honestly have a pretty good team with lots of depth. What about upfront though? I know they lost Reggie Evans and Kenyon Martin might be signing else where. Who else do they have upfront?

Lamar odom can play some power forward. They have blake and jordan but outside of that i'm not sure.

BayAreaSoldier
07-17-2012, 04:00 PM
Yeah Same. If Odom comes ready to play He can make up for some lack of depth but I wonder who they are counting on to back DeAndre up.

07-17-2012, 04:10 PM
Hmmm maybe Hill wants to play a key role on a team that HE believes has a shot at a ring. I think his opinion of the Clippers is more important the general PSD NBA forum poster's. It would seem his opinion of the team is pretty high. He is probably the best player the Clippers could have added to fill their void at SF. If healthy I expect to see him closing a lot of games.

All kinds of fail here. Especially about Bledsoe. He was great in the playoffs. You know they matter, right. Odom and Crawford are coming of weird career worst seasons. They will no doubt rebound to some degree if not all the way. Butler would be better off the bench but he probably starts and Hill probably comes off the bench and finishes.

People who keep mentioning the backup center weakness of the Clippers.. don't forget they are the frontrunner for Darko and are pursuing him hard. Gomes was traded for Hill in a S&T I'm hearing which is brilliant of the Clippers.

Chronz
07-17-2012, 06:35 PM
**** it why not, we have so many question marks up and down the swingman spots we may as well hope Hill bounces back and doesnt age rapidly, some of these gambles have to pay off right?

Opportunity for a bigger role, PT, and money matter. And chances of getting a ring isnt much higher to offset that. And LA > Miami

Bledsoe was injured to start the year, he tore it up in the playoffs so I dont think him not having a better year is accurate.

Butler, Odom and Crawford all sucked for sure. Heres hoping they rebound. It shouldnt be too hard for Odom and if he provides even a snippet of what he used to, it will be an upgrade. I have no faith in Butler but I hope Im wrong. Overall its hard not to get excited about this team, but yea the age on some of these players keeps me up at night.

If only Ray Allen had signed with the Clippers instead of the Heat :sigh:

Two of my favorite players in the league could have teamed up late in their careers to help strengthen a young, contending team. I'm glad Hill didn't go to the Lakers, though... as much as I'd like for him to win a championship, it would be painful for me to see both Nash and Hill in purple and gold.
