Source confirms "strong interest" by Jamison in Lakers, says deal not done. Charlotte Observer says Jamison "will" be a Laker, per source.

Nice move

If Antawn Jamison to ‪#Lakers‬ is a go, props to him for taking less $ to chase a title. As an LA reserve, he can be more selective, versatile

Jamison is a Laker I think

Now if the lakers pick up grant hill this team will be LOADED..

I dont even think the lakers would be done after that..

Would they still persue oj mayo ? Blake/mcroberts and maybe pick for mayo

Steve Nash/goudelock
Kobe Bryant/mayo
Grant Hill/artest
Pau Gasol/jamison
Andrew Bynum/hill?

Dude averaged 17 pts last year and he played 100x better then Odom lol Jamison is a way better shooter and pure scorer, Odom was just a great ball ahndler and passer for a big but lakers dont need a point forward anymore with Nash. Perfect stretch guy

Jamison won't be playing 3 I think. This is a move to strengthen the bench, putting Jamison next to either Gasol or Bynum at the 5. All the Lakers need now is Grant Hill to round out a great offseason.

Agreed .. Nobody will play better with nash now than gasol..

Gasol was force constantly to beat his man out of a triple threat with no one to pass the ball to him to put him in better spots..

The lakers need grant hill instead.. And leave this team the way it is..

Favorites imo .. Especially if bynum for dwight straight up comes into play..

solid depth. i wonder how many minutes many of these old guys can play. blake needs to play more consistently considering nash will not play a lot like he used too.

I really think this is great but the more pressing need for them is a legit 2nd SG to give Kobe a break. When i say legit i mean a 6'6 guy who can create and score. All they have are 6'2 PG's trying to play SG and thats not working at ALL!

If Jamison signed for the vet min they need to use that MIN MLE on Rush, Mayo, Lee then Grant Hill would be a vet min then they would be Golden!

I think a backup scorer for Kobe is more important. I'm fine with MWP and Ebanks at SF. Grant Hill would be great but we can't afford Kobe playing 40+ minutes again.
Also I hope they resign Jordan Hill, that would be one hell of a big man rotation with Bynum/Dwight-Pau-Jamisn-Hill.

Lakers will keep WMP and Hill thats a great SF combo and then ebanks i heard will be gone in a trade or amniesty Blake. That Johnson-Odom kid looks good. I think a back-up SG is more important then G.HIll but he will come for the vet min. They will have to use that Mini-MLE on a SG like Rush or Mayo

He's a cheaper, mentally more stable and hungrier version of Lamar Odom. Lamar already has his 2 rings, Jamison, the long time veteran like Steve Nash (and maybe Grant Hill) still hasn't won a championship yet.

I can easily see him getting 15 a game off the bench and leading LA's bench which was weak last year.

Bynum/Gasol inside with Jamison stretching the floor for Nash is an amazing post/outside big game, with Kobe being the assassin he is!

Im tired of laker fans bringing this trade rumor up, as if Memphis is just gonna help out the lakers.

That McRoberts for Mayo trade also included BRANDON RUSH. It wasn't a 2 player swap. Memphis had no backup bigs back then and they were looking for a cheaper replacement to Mayo (because now he's commanding 7-10 million). The Grizzlies now have Speights, Bayless and plenty of other guards/forwards. They dont need that garbage from the lakers.

Oh and the lakers aren't getting Rush or Lee either. Those guys will cost much more than the mini MLE. Oh wait....are they supposed to sign for the minimum? For a chance a championship? Who cares that Kobe makes 30 million, everybody should take a paycut to help stack the lakers roster!!!!

But Iggy is younger, their values are close. I think Iggy would be a nice fit for LA, provides athleticism and even improves on Artest's defense while being a solid option from beyond the arc. And Gasol fills the big man void for Philly. However, the Sixers would probably only move Iggy in order to get younger so I don't know if it works for them.

agreed ... gasol is obviously on the decline . laker fans are holding on to his value 2 years ago

iggy > gasol

Jamison is an amazing fit. He fills a Lamar Odom like role for the team... BUT they still need 3 point shooters who can hit a shot in the clutch. Heard they were going after Meeks? That would be a terrific underrated signing for them if it happens.

Are people still trying to add Odom's name to the conversation? That is sooooooo 2008.

The Odom thing is o-verrrrrr. Helloooooo. Give it a rest. Stop trying to make it "happen."

Very good pick up by the Lakers even though he's not the old Jamison anymore. Their bench has been so thin this will certainly make them better.

You're negative atitude is getting really old and annoying already. Even if the Lakers got Dwight Howard, you would still find something to be negative about.

How is being factual a form of being negative? Has Jamison signed with us? Until then, he isn't a Laker. I'll welcome him with open arms, but my man weirder things have happened (see Chris Paul trade)

You don't have to state the obvious all the time. You have to try to be more optimistic by ignoring the obvious once in a while; it's killing the mood, man.

Maybe it's just my mood as of late. I apologize if I've been negative, but you have to understand that all this speculation is driving us mad in the Laker forum. I think just about everyone has had it with the Dwight nonsense.

If Jamison and Hill sign, I'll be ecstatic. But again, there are a lot of options out there for them, especially if we're operating solely on the vets min.

Again, I'd love it if they both signed, but until then I just won't comment on it anymore.

I think Jamison will be the end of the Jordan Hill experiment. Jamison and Hill will be the guys they get for the bench imo.

Blake, Hill, Jamison, Ebanks, Glock. Things could change with a blockbuster trade though.

^ If we trade Pau, we can create a nice rotation off the bench while also getting a half-*** starter back.

That being said, Nash and Pau in P&R seems too perfect for our team. I'd like that bench you mentioned. Need a big man though (maybe JO for the senior vets min)

Definitely. I still get sweaty for Brandon Rush, he'd be the perfect fit. But if Mitch isn't going to use the Mini-MLE, I just don't see us getting him.

Dude is one of the best shooters in the NBA and is overlooked by a lot of folks. Solid defender too

awesome pick up, he's a tough dude, can take the ball to the whole and he's not afraid to shoot when he's open. Pair him up with Nash and he'll spot shot the heck out of any opposing team that tries to double anybody.

rotation gasol or bynum out and having jamison in there with someone else that can stretch the floor with nash and kobe will be insane.

Or heck, Nash, Blake, Kobe, Jamison, Gasol/Bynum will be an insane rotation.

You know what I really love about this staring line up? There will always at least be 2 stars on the floor at all times AND WE START WITH 5!

I consider a star someone who the opposing team has to game plan for but can't do it by himself, generally someone has to help him create shots or he's ineffective.

A superstar is able to carry a team on his shoulders for a game.

nash, kobe, artest, gasol, bynum, and now jamison could all be considered "star" players, and nash and kobe are superstars, gasol and bynum are fringe superstars and artest is a washed up psedo superstar.

This team should easily be favorites, no one else is stacked like the Lakers.

nash, kobe, gasol, bynum, jamison, artest... the lakers are getting ready to make another run!! Yet they still have Blake, Barnes, Troy Murphy, etc, etc, aka NO BENCH. O'Neal doesn't help much, and Jamison isn't going to win them a championship by himself. They still have Mike Brown's stupid coaching, Gasol's still in a coma, maybe Nash can wake him out of it, but I doubt it, Metta hits a 3 every 5 years, and Bynum still can't hold the ball for more than 3 seconds before shooting over four arms.

If the Lakers FO was willing to trade away both Gasol and Bynum for D12 a trade would already be done. This just can't be true, no way that happens.

I don't know how legitimate the source was but Orlando apparently doesn't want both. They want a third team to take Gasol and either they receive a young player or cap relief in addition to Bynum. The hold-up is finding a third team.

Where did you hear this? I remember Lakers FO saying they wouldn't deal away both. It would seem that the Magic have less leverage at this point in time, so even if a Pau + Bynum for Howard + fillers deal was talked before, that's just too much to send away.
