View Full Version : 5th Annual PSD Player Rankings #5 SG In The NBA? (Volume: V)

Hey guys, Some of you may remember that for the last four years I have conducted a poll at the end of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. The season is now over and the Heat have been crowned NBA champs which means its time to kick off the off-season player rankings.

A lot has changed since last season. Lebron was labelled by some as Choke Artist in the clutch and now this year had one of the greatest finals performances in recent memory. Let start the discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round. I have also included the results of those last 4 years so everyone can see how much things have changed...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best

This one is tough for me. I picked Eric Gordon to be my #3 SG before last season but with him missing as much time as he did I really find it to take him ahead of guys like JJ and Monta despite the fact that I believe he's a better player than they are.

I have never liked Johnson he is above average but that's it IMO. He does nothing overly well. His defense is overrated, and he has an inconsistent shot.

The thread details need to be posted as well with the poll. Creating a poll of 14 options plus adding the thread details is too much to do on a phone. That is why I did not post the thread and too be honest I did not want to be tied to technology when I was trying to get away from the city.

U can make a case for any of the 3 guys; Ellis, Gordon, JJ
Personally, I'd say JJ because he is more of a established true SG. Ellis is kind of a ball-hogg who isn't a true SG, though his talent and speed is undeniable. And then EG, who if healthy, can be and is special.

EG: Although he averaged 20ppg or so when he was healthy, he did it on a crap team.
Ellis: Constantly delivers a lot of buckets, but can take away from his teammates at times and not a true SG.
JJ: Although he dropped a bit, the guy can fill up the bucket like the 2 guys above, has a pure shot, true SG, and did it on a good team/mediocre.
Overall, I'd say JJ, and with playing alongside Deron this upcoming season, I'd give him the nod.

Why is DeRozan on the list over Avery Bradley?

Because, as evidenced by the fact that Joe Johnson and Monta Ellis are leading the vote for #5, only one side of the ball matters

Really, though, Avery Bradley was really good on defense last season but he is definitely not a complete enough player to be considered for the top ten right now. At least DeRozan has put together back to back seasons of solid scoring.

Lol his contract is pretty horrible that doesn't need an explanation. How is see it the SG position has become incredibly thin over the years (just look at the 2008 lists) so you're going to have a few "mediocre" players voted this high. You think this is bad? Wait till Eric Gordon gets off the board. A healthy EJ is obviously better than Johnson, but that's the thing, when is EJ ever healthy?
