Nice move for us. Great size, and interior D. He will be a great backup to Bismack.

Bobcats probably got him for a great price.

The #Bobcats have successfully claimed center Brendan Haywood off waivers. Presumably, they have their starting center.

I don't know if that means Bismack slides to power forward, or comes off the bench.

Time to make a move for Scola.

I think Bismack will be the starting 4, with Mullens manning the bench

Charlotte's winning bid for Haywood, per league source, was $2.05M.

Great value.

Mavericks will pay remaining $6.34M of Haywood's salary this season and $25.2M of guaranteed money left on his contract.

Thanks Dallas!

I think Haywood would most likely be the starter.

I would imagine an open competition. The plan is to run a lot, and Bismack definitely has the athletic edge on Haywood. Haywood is the more traditional, experienced center though. Happy to have both.

Haywood is easily the least worthless of the three. Diop is definitely amnestied if Scola comes aboard.

Thanks Dallas!

Thanks for not letting him clear waivers, Dallas now doesn't have to pay his entire salary.

Is there talk of Charlotte being interested in him?

Great deal. I'm more expecting to get Jamison than I am Scola. We'll see though.

I think it's more fan speculation than anything. I haven't seen any reports of us being interested in him. I could be wrong though.

Marc Stein: More amnesty scuttle: I'm told Charlotte, New Orleans and Sacramento all have levels of Scola interest and weighing whether to lodge bids

It would make more sense to amnesty Tyrus Thomas than Diop because Thomas has 3 more years left in his contract than Diop in which he's a expiring contract.

I'm really liking what the Bobcats are doing if they end up with Scola they will have a solid team!

Lol but seriously a good pickup for them. Gives them a size and defensive upgrade at a modest price.

jordan would rather try trade him(nearly impossible) or just keep him. he isn't the type to get rid of tyrus and still have to pay him. jordan needs that money to gamble

Biyombo, wow i forgot about that dude....

I think the cats messed up when they broke that roster up after losing in the playoffs. That was a good squad, if they would of stuck with that roster and tweaked it who knows, at worse they would of had some nice assets.

Team went down the drain since that decision.

JDM
07-14-2012, 09:52 PM
Yeah, and we would have stayed a fringe playoff team who at best would have gotten out after the 1st round. Staying in mediocrity is worse long-term than rebuilding. Breaking up that roster was the best thing we could have done.

An okay acquisition for thrift shopping. He has seize and his "moments". Hope you pair him up with Byombo. Makes the most sense imho.

MKG, Henderson, Gordon, Kemba, Sessions, and Taylor.

I understand why people are so down on the Bobcats, they were the worst team in the history of the NBA, but they're going to be significantly better. This is Kemba and Bismack's first real offseason. MKG, Sessions, Gordon, and Taylor will be contributors who weren't on the team last year, not to mention we're still very active in free agency. Haywood is the defensive seven footer we've lacked.

Again, there's no reason to think they won't be awful, but they will be markedly improved. I haven't been this excited for a season in a while. I think Mike Dunlap will prove to be a great hire.

I wouldn't be so sure. At the very least, it will be an open competition. Sessions made it clear he wanted to start, so I would assume he will at least be given an opportunity.

Personally, I agree with you.

“He’s the head of the dog,” Dunlap said of Walker’s value going forward.
