People say I am crazy but I think Jeff Van Gundy was a great basketball coach. I would love to have him coach the Hawks but thats obviously never going to happen. So if you had to pick a coach for your team who would it be?

He is not a good coach. Great commentator, terrible coach.

He also isn't coaching again for a couple years

I just read a report that he was offered a head coaching job this year but wants to wait until next year after his daughter graduates before he'd consider it.

Changed the title because it has nothing to do with JVG coming back.. at least not how you structured your post.

what sport?

The more roster memebers the bigger the coach needs to be.

And it needs to have a shower and tv.

.............

Oh? you mean that other type of coach? Sloan

Since i can't pick Phil I'll go with Jerry Sloan, he always been one of my fav coaches. Pop & Thibs would be my next choices.

You said JVG was coming back to coaching.. your post doesn't say that anywhere, do you have a link for that?

then in your post you go on to ask "If you had to pick a coach for your team who would it be?".. your title made no sense with what you posted.

Van Gundy isnt a bad announcer or coach, I just think hes really biased, especially when it comes to the Heat. He got reallly obvious and annoying throughout the playoffs/finals.

That being said, I think hes a good coach. The pick and roll offense could work with the right team like the knicks, twolves, whatever team dwight goes to. He really utilized big men well with the pick and roll.

IN YOUR TITLE......... THE ONE I SAID I CHANGED...............

You had "Jeff Van Gundy to coach again????"

It didn't go with your post. The way you made it sounded like you were breaking news/or a rumor but you weren't, you were just stating an opinion.

JVG is exactly the kind of coach we need on the Clippers, I wouldnt take any other available coach over him right now.

Popovich or Adelmen if I can't Jackson/Riley

JasonJohnHorn

Pop would be my first choice. I think Thibs and Doc are both great too. And I'm assuming that Jackson and Sloan won't come out of retirement at this point.

Pop easily, not even close for me at all, 2nd would probably be doc/tibs/phill but I out Pop so far ahead of everyone else. I base this on his wins, his championships, the product he puts out on the court, talent evaluation, and command of his team/ability for him to treat his superstars like his bench players. Pop is a beast, by far the best. All these other guys get disrespected by there players every once in a while, Pops players listen to him like the best trained dog ever. Out of respect. He also overachieves with every team he has.
