The Nuggets continue to pursue restricted free-agent center JaVale McGee, who has a five-year, $50 million offer on the table, a source said. But McGee’s representatives don’t appear to be in a hurry to get a deal done and will continue to negotiate.

That's really not a bad contract. He's a healthy big who played extremely well in the playoffs last year.

This thread has zero to do with the Nets yet you again take another jab at Brooklyn.

Every thread I see this, its non sense.

Whether I'm a Nets fan or not its clear you bring no value to this site. Just bias one liners.

I think that is more than a fair deal. You have to weigh his potential against what he has actually been able to accomplish and consider his maturity in all that. That said, 10 mil per is a fair price, but another team will likely push the market value up, unless nobody else has the cap space, then he's going to have to take the bait.

Nice job looking up his stats on ESPN in 5 games last year.

He out rebounds Mcgee for his career and out scores him by almost 10 plus points.

10 million per year for Mcgee is a bargain price. He should at the VERY LEAST get 55 million. But he is worth more like 60-65 million over 5 yrs.

I don't think the Nets are better than a #6 seed and you guys all take that as an insult. Get over it.

Sorry? I'm looking for zero sympathy. I think the things you post are egregious .

I never asked you about what seed the Nets would be? I asked why do you choose to bash the Nets while putting no reasoning behind so? I'd truly love to hear some valid reasoning but clearly you have none.

So what if there has been a bunch of Nets threads? 90% of them havent even been made by Nets fans?

Mcgee's upside is incredible, especially with thst coach, that roster, and that play style.

The questions still remains, WTF is it going to take for him to really want to reach his potential, and is he mentally even capable of it?

5 yr 50 mill is a fair price IMO. I really like what Denver has done since losing melo, very fun team to watch too.

I'm not bashing the Nets. I just don't see a Championship team like all of you are claiming to be and tryin g to shove down people's throat. I'd be really surprised if you guys can even be a 4th seed.

As for this thread. People started turning their noses at this contract for McGee, so I brought up Brook Lopez and his Max Deal to compare. Get over it man.

KaganRS
07-13-2012, 09:16 PM
Well ... the way I see it is that Brook Lopez' contract should not be compared to Javale's.

Based on the circumstances the Nets management had to act quickly during the Dwight Howard talks - why risk another team stepping in to give Brook Lopez an offer sheet and mess things up completely ?

For the money both teams invested on Mcgee and Lopez I would rather have the Lopez +10 pts over McGee and all the double teams that come along with that.

I know Javale's defense was outstanding and he's starting to put his heart into it ...but we've seen the risk in giving max extensions to defensive specialists a-la Ben Wallace. Now granted , Javale is on the upside of his career.

In the market of current centers , is either contract for both of these men truly a bad choice ? Essentially , tie up your assets now and move them later. There's no telling what the trade market will bring them when some other team is in desperate need to shed contracts or move a piece.

And you dont bash the Nets? PLEASE:

Hibbert is a center. Lopez is Villanueva

I agree. Nets fans are talking up a team that is barely a playoff team with no room to improve going forward.

lol - they gave a max deal to Brook ****ing Lopez.

I'm sure Brook Lopez is the answer to the Nets getting to the finals.

Charlie Villanueva = Brook Lopez

Nets = mediocre.

That team doesn't have the make-up of a championship caliber team. 6-8 seed at best.

Mind you most of these posts weren't even in a response to anything, just you babbling.

How many guys get big contracts for rebounding or defense? Scoring gets you the money. And Javale has shown potential for a while but hasn't really put anything together on any consistent basis. Brook has proven himself more than Javale, even if it has been far too weighted on one end of the court, it is the side where the bucks are stashed.
