*Our Pick*

Drummond is a project but has the best hands on a big man I've ever seen. Has a nice touch around the rim and will block a ton of shots.

Monroe is going to be our best offensive player, but Drummond will fit perfect next to him.

Dear God, someone teach Drummond how to shoot a free throw though.

Many Rockets fans wouldn't mind that at all. That's the reason why the GM has been letting go of everyone like Dragic and Scola, they either get Howard or start over. The people that are critizing Morey don't understand this.

uhhh they haven't played yet...that is how they are doing. Some teams don't start off till tomorrow... :)

heck my fav. team just locked up the last of their picks, Will Barton, to a contract today.

The Trail Blazers used the 40th overall pick in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft to select Barton, 21, the reigning Conference USA Player of the Year. In two years at Memphis, Barton averaged 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.49 steals for the Tigers. He led the conference in scoring last season with 18.0 points per game.

I hear what you are saying about Drummond. It seems that most successful bigs are either athletic/physical/aggressive (Dwight, Amare, to a lesser extent Mcgee/Jordan), or the Tim Duncan, Olajuwon types where they depend more on footwork and a soft touch. Drummond would naturally fall under the former category, but he seems to lack that aggression and seems disconnected on blocking out defensively. I was upset that we didn't pick him at 8, but watching more videos on him I can sorta see why. Still think he is an amazing prospect and I hope he proves doubters wrong and finds a way to be successful.

between him, Klay, and Curry the W's are gonna be deadly from beyond the arc. if healthy and you add a low post scorer in Bogut they will see more open three's too. should be interesting with them this year. if healthy ofcourse which is a big if at this point.

well if they were drafting 8th the weren't drafting at all cause the Jazz would have the pick but if Barnes is gone i would find it hard to pass up on Drummond or rivers strictly on potential alone( higher risk but high reward imo for both those guys) or BPA.

COOLbeans
07-15-2012, 08:08 PM
Goldenstaters right. Warriors lose the pick if they lost the tie break coin toss to Toronto. But if we did have the 8th pick and Barnes is gone, based off of what I've seen in summer league, Terrance Ross could of been that guy.

But more than likely, we would of taken BPA, or Drummond. Ross could end up being just that though and I'm sure he was on Jerrry Wests radar. So he very well could have been the pick.

Meyers Leonard (11th overall pick) was a pleasant surprise. He worked hard on rebounds and defense, wasn't afraid to foul hard, hit his free throws, and was very agile overall. He finished with a well-earned double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks).

Damian Lillard (6th overall pick) had 25 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and a slow first half, but flipped a switch in the second half, leading the Blazer comeback. He had a nice pass for a Leonard alley-oop, and a few nice drives.

The Lakers' scrubs are 0-3. They're disorganized, not playing defense, and can't hit a shot. They don't seem to be getting any coaching at all.

Conversely the Heat seem pretty well coached. But I wouldn't read too much into summer league box scores, otherwise Lance Stephenson is the 2nd coming of Magic.

Do you mean in Summer League history?

Because the Heat have the largest margin of defeat in actual NBA history - an 80-148 loss to Cleveland in 1991.
I love the irony in losing to Cleveland lol

Last season the Pistons had a 50 point lead against the Cavs after 3 quarters. 100-50.

This whole thead is ironic, the op (MIA fan) thought they had the largest margin of victory but then the irony was that the Heat actually has the largest margin of defeat in NBA history against (again the irony) the Cavs....

Only a couple players make the lakers bench next season and none of them will get any significant minutes. They pretty much just beat up on a whole bunch of late second round draft picks that won't make it in this league.
