Bob Cooney:
Kwame Brown apparently joining Sixers. Here's your starting center. Adds toughness they certainly don't have... 1 minute ago

Wizards, Lakers, Grizzlies, Pistons, Bobcats, Warriors, Bucks and now 76ers for the former #1 overall pick.

2 years, 6 million is not bad at all, people always trash him because he was a first overall pick, but he is a nice backup, and he will be a nice complement to Hawes, coming off the bench

He prolly will be starting with Hawes at the 4 if Collins gets his way.

Unfortunately, Doug Collins in his infinite wisdom, is gonna start Hawes at the 4, which means Kwame is our new starting center.

He's cheaper than Elton Brand, who was vastly overpaid his entire time in Philly. Give credit to his agent David Falk.

That is very gross. The 76ers gotta do better than that.

wow. Elton Brand was bad but Kwame is an absolute cancer... They better pray the NBA adds a 10th seed to the playoffs. Wherever there is Kwame, something goes wrong. Everyone who lives in Philadelphia say to your close owns "I love you"

Kwame has actually become a pretty good defensive center so that is cheap for a big. People just won't let go of him being picked#1. The problem is they still need inside scoring bc he won't bring that

It's not a bad move actually. He's a pretty good defender and that's what they need at the 5.

Although I don't like the notion of Hawes at the 4.

Kwame,
Your a *****. You were the 1 shinning ray of hope in the Monta Ellis trade because Monta is not coming back after his contract expires. Why did you leave? U truly are GOAT. Haters gunna ask me "U mad?". Now because of you I have to say, Yes, **** off. Thank you very much. Kwame, you don't realize what you did to me. You let me down.

Beantownsboss
07-13-2012, 02:39 PM
He isn't very fast that's for sure, and he cannot block shots. He is a solid defender though. 3 mil a year aint too bad, I think there are better options at 3 mil a year.

Unfortunately, Doug Collins in his infinite wisdom, is gonna start Hawes at the 4, which means Kwame is our new starting center.

I really hope you're kidding. Although, Hawes is too afraid to play physical, so there's no way he'll ever be a good center anyway. He's said in the past that he feels like he should just allowed to sit back and take jumpers and that he just isn't built to play tough. Personally, I was ecstatic to get rid of someone with that attitude, but maybe he'll embrace the position change and do better than expected...

If Hawes and Kwame could somehow be combined, you guys would have a pretty good center.

People don't give Kwame his due. He is in the top 5 maybe even top 3, post defenders in the league. The dude is build like a brick house and can't be moved. I'm a fan especially for a cap friendly contract like that.

I may be the only 76ers fan that likes the fact that we got Kwame scratch that I love the fact that we got Kwame especially with the way our team is structured currently. We have been lacking toughness, defense and rebounding at the C from quite some time (last rebounder we had was Sammy D but he wasn't good on D outside of shot blocking) and I for one am happy we got Kwame. He could be one of the most sort after assets by any team who needs a quality C (eg Miami) in the next couple seasons.

He was a #1 bust, but he's still been an NBA player for 11 years. Not even close to one of the worst players ever. Relative to draft position? Sure. But that was 11 years ago, it hasn't had any real impact on his value in a long time.

If Kwame was chosen late in the 1st, people would not underrate him so much..

Yeah he's not great like he was projected but he's a big defensive body. He's a good back up, just don't count on him on O. He plays Post D pretty well and has okay per 36 #'s for a backup.

This. Not just late in the first, either. He wasn't even the worst in that year's lottery. DeSagana Diop (#8) has worse career numbers and nobody gets worked up about him, and guys like Rodney White (#9) and Kedrick Brown (#11) barely ever played.

He was a huge bust for sure, but judging his current value based on that stuff 11 years later is a little silly.
