Is the 2-3-2 better or worse than the 2-2-1-1-1

Can a mod add a poll idk how

2-2-1-1-1

definitely. 3 straight games in one place allows too much of a momentum swing and it works the other way that it puts too much pressure on home team for 3-5 to win in 5.

I have too much mix feelings about this...

If they changed it, then people will say, well if it was still the blah blah blah way, my team would have won... etc

it might be too late to change it,f or historical stat reasons.

I dont like the 2-3-2 format, No reason that the team with the better record should ever have to be down IMO. they earned HCA over the course of the year, and going down 2-3 isnt fair for the winning team.

However, I think it would be more interesting if we stayed with the 2-3-2 format, but allowed the team with the better record decide which side of the format they would prefer.

2-2-1-1-1 gives each team an oppertunity to win

3 home games in a row is a lot for the team that didn't get home court advantage.

Another idea is for every round, the team with the better seed just continues to play at home untill they loose, because no mater what formatt you do, the home team is going to have to loose a home game.

That's a very interesting idea

the current format favors the team without home court

wtf...that would be horrible for scheduling and how would a fan base feel if their team made the playoffs and didn't get one home game?

I actually think it gets fairer, I mean, the best team still have one more game at home, and the other team has three games in a row to get some momentum.

So I do think it favors the team withou HCA, but I don't see why this is bad deal, since the team are from two different conferences, and they didn't have the same amount of games against the same teams, I don't think it's fair to "label" a better team looking just at their records. And this way, it gets easier for small TV companion, especially from other countries to cover the Finals, IMO.

I think the 2-3-2 is fair. It gives the team without HCA a chance to put together a streak while the higher seed is still getting those crucial games 6 and 7 at home.

Hey, just a random thought: How about a 3-3-1? Let's see people complain about that one. :D

Absolutely genius! I always had mix feelings about this format and I think the team with the best record should have the choice, great idea!

How many teams without HC have won with the current format?

No need to change it just because Miami won

Do you know how hard it is for a team to win three straight games against a number 1 seed being at home or away? Very hard. I feel like 2-3-2 is much more of a challenge for the lesser seed.

Well no team has ever won a title in the finals without winning a road game so the 2-3-2 format is fine. If you lose one of the first two games at home and can't win a game on the road then it doesn't really matter. To me it is much easier having the first 2 at home and last 2 at home.

I added the poll.
I prefer 2-2-1-1-1

I hate that they consider the first and last 2 games of the series "HCA". If you're in the finals, you're obviously good enough to win on the road so there's a good chance the team starting on the road can go up 3-2 or win in 5 before it would ever get back to the better teams home floor.

Dude not everything revolves around the heat it has nothing to do with the heat winning. I've long hated this format and made a thread like this a couple of years ago. I wanted to put it out for discussion again.

The idea about the team with the best record choosing is a new one and I like it a lot.

That is why the 2-3-2 serves the team with HCA more so. You should be able to win on the road in the finals.

keep as is . don't fix what's not broke. Their are bigger problems in the nba like the hard cap.
