View Full Version : Report: Utah Jazz to buyout Raja Bell; considering Heat, Lakers

Fresno

Veteran shooting guard Raja Bell told The Salt Lake Tribune on Sunday he has reached a verbal agreement with Utah for a buyout of his 2012-13 contract. Once the deal is formalized, Bell said he'll be free to sign with any team in the league.

"I've been given the greenlight and we've agreed to terms," said Bell, who's set to make $3.4 million this season.

Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday that Bell has interest in returning to his hometown Heat, while the Lakers are a legitimate possibility.

Who would've ever believed that Raja Bell and Kobe would possibly end up as teammates?

Raja Bell is still one of the better defenders in the NBA but he's spent the last few years playing in bad situations like Charlotte, Golden State, & Utah where he has struggled to fit as well as he did in Phoenix next to Nash.

Former 2x All Defensive Team guy for the veteran minimum? :eyebrow:

He'll be a Laker soon enough. Its almost too perfect of a fit.

Heat has Wade, LeBron, Battier, Jones, Allen... Where would he find playing time?

I can understand the Lakers reuniting with Steve Nash

As @WojYahooNBA pointed out, Lakers came hard after Bell 2 yrs ago. And source points out that Bell's best friend in NBA is...Steve Nash.

he goes to the lakers, no question.

Nope, that muther****er spurned us and canceled a dinner invite from Kobe because he took an ultimatum to take it or leave it offer from the Jazz, more $ than what the Lakers could have offered. Plus, we need to get younger and less injury prone guys. Jodie Meeks would be the way to go for us.

Its a nice change of pace from talking about the Knicks, HEAT, and Nets

What? Dwight to where?

And this isnt the same situation at all, Raja Bell and Nash are close, the Lakers are in need of a backup guard, and he'll sign for vet minimum. He'll be a Laker.

It was a joke.

I do wonder how him and Kobe would get along. Maybe the Lakers could trade for Marion, Amare and Diaw and could have a Suns/Lakers 03,04,05,06 team.

dude was awful for the jazz. can only shoot 3's and except for like 1 hot month he was awful in that department. he also wasn't even that good of a defender anymore.

You can get both.

Hill & Bell >>>>>> Lakers bench in 2012

Like him on the bench for Brooklyn. Deron used to play with him, and Nets need 3-point shooters for league minimum. Me personally, I would rather have Korver (if buyout happens with the Bulls) than Bell.

I wouldn't mind him on the lakers for the vets min. Nash will get him open looks and if he could still play decent defense it will upgrade the bench big time. Rather have Courtney lee but for vets min it won't be bad.

I think he should also consider the C's, he could fill in at the 2 especially early on in the season since Avery Bradley is injured.

there are a list of people i would rather have then bell. only if both miller and jones retire would i want that and even the its shaky. i would rather jl3, kmart, rashard, even tmac lol. i feel like he would be better for l.a. because nash brought out the best in em and kobe desperately needs someone to relieve him during games.

he goes to the lakers, no question.

But, the Lakers tried and failed 2 years ago because he didn't want to play with Kobe. I don't see it happening unless Nash is a really persuasive guy.

It would be a good fit but it doesn't exactly make us younger or more athletic. At least he's a better shooter than Barnes or MWP anyway.

Vets minimum would definitely make it worthwhile for a 2 year deal
