Blazers just complete meeting w/Batum and agent in downtown Portland and say they will match any offer and will not engage in sign-and-trade.

Blazers GM Olshey says it was "constructive" in that Blazers were able to get their message across face-to-face in meeting at The Nines

Olshey: "We told Nic it is in his best interests to sign with us."

Blazers were represented at meeting with Batum and his agent by Olshey, Chad Buchanan and salary cap specialist Joe Cronin

He's going no where...

I'd laugh if they signed him and Hibbert to the max.

Great, we can over pay for a guy that doesnt want to be here, and trade him after he whines and sucks for most of his contract. I love the Blazers haha.

They aren't getting Hibbert. He will be a Pacer at the end of all of this.

Biggest problem for the blazers is...who will be their starting center...no one of any value is left on the FA board. So, trade for a center? Who?

No center equals big issues for the blazers next year...

Pacers are not matching for Hibbert. Owner has no interest in paying Hibbert. Hibbert will be at a Blazers press conference on the 15th holding up his new jersey.

where did you read he didn't want to be here? The last "report" of this, was false...Batum confirmed it was bogus via his twitter feed. He says he very much wants to be in portland.

His agent is a tool...I honestly believe he has caused most of the friction that sounds like it comes from Batum.

I'm pretty disappointed, but hey, sounds like we're already talking Iggy with Philly, C-Lee is out there, Shved sounds like a very good possibility of coming here, we got some wing players out there we can go out and get, and they won't cost what Batum will cost.

got a link where they say this? Everything I have read said resigning him was their top priority.

As sad as it is, Hibbertmania has already started here in Portland. Be funny if Pacers match and the Blazers are left scatching their heads with a ****** plan B at center.

Combo: Kurt Thomas and Meyer Leonard? I don't think that's going to work.

the only reason I'm really disappointed about this is because Batum actually seemed like a very reasonable possibility.. with this news is just makes me more concerned that we won't be able to upgrade like I thought we would but hey I hope we can do something.. Iggy would be nice but I'd much rather have batum.

Even people who cover the pacers have said Hibbert will be a Blazer next year. Not a single person has said they will match, some ESPN people have said they would be crazy not to, that is it.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The agent for Portland restricted free-agent Nicolas Batum tells The Associated Press that his client has reached a verbal agreement with the Timberwolves on a new deal and wants the Blazers to let him go to Minnesota.
Bouna Ndiaye says Batum met with Blazers officials including GM Neil Olshey on Thursday. He says Ndiaye has great respect for the Blazers and their fans, but feels the best fit for him is playing in Minnesota under head coach Rick Adelman and alongside point guard Ricky Rubio.
Ndiaye declined to give the terms of Minnesota's offer. Batum can sign the offer on July 11 and the Blazers would have three days to match.
Olshey said earlier Thursday that the Blazers would match any offer and would not consider trading Batum.

Blazers prepared to offer Derrick Williams & Martell Webster in S&T

@WojYahooNBA: Minnesota's considered pitching a Derrick Williams-Martell Webster sign-and-trade for Nic Batum, sources say. Portland would reject it.

Whatever Nic Batum decides to do - signs a Minny offer sheet, or not - he'll be a Blazer again. Portland isn't losing him to the Wolves..

Restricted free agent Nicolas Batum agreed to a four-year, $45 million offer sheet made by the Wolves on Thursday.

The AP reports that the bonuses could push the deal past $50 million and also that Batum wants to go to Minnesota. This is interesting, because all of Portland's media has poo-pooed the reports that Batum wanted to leave and most of the nationwide discourse has echoed that sentiment, as well. Now the Blazers have the right to match, and that too has been written as a foregone conclusion by the folks covering the story up close. Stay tuned.

Resigning Nicolas Batum should of been the 1st priority but instead they offer a big max out contract to Roy Hibbert first. I don't think the Blazers wanted to pay Batum over 10 million a year. I'm guessing they rather pay Batum around $5-8 million a year instead. But you look at it Hibbert was a all star last year and Batum wasn't so I was clear they wanted to pair up Hibbert and Aldridge next to each other.

My guess is the Blazers cut some fat if Hibbert isn't matched by the Pacers. Cut some fat to have both Hibbert and Batum. If the Pacers match for Hibbert, the Blazers not matching for Batum would be a setback in their off season.

I see them matching either way....
