Very underrated player IMO. I always see him torch us when we play him. I would love to get him for the Mini MLE

Durant because he actually has done fairly well in 3pt contests and the dunk contests have gotten pretty weak. Then again, maybe it's Love? Let's think about how well he'd work in the current dunk contest format...

1. You've got all sorts of cheesy dunk names for him like the "whole lotta Love," "spread your Love," "Love bomb," or really any of these song titles: http://www.torontomike.com/2011/02/1714_songs_with_love_in_the_ti.html

2. He's white so that gives you the whole angle of "white man can't jump! ...but he doesn't need to."

3. His uncle is a Beach Boy. Enough said.

4. He's got the teammates to help out. Who doesn't want to see Rubio throw a pass? And, with the subpar rookie year Derrick Williams had, I'm sure no one will mind if love uses his back like a stepping stool to the rim.

5. Love has some gimmicks built up. He has fake cologne commercials as well as Mr. Love's Miracle Glass Cleaner.

3+4+5. So who wouldn't love to see the silly floppy-haired kid Rubio in a custodian's uniform on a ladder cleaning the backboard with some Mr. Love's Miracle Glass Cleaner and passing the ball to Love as the Beach Boys sing "Good Vibrations?" Oh, and maybe Love could do a cool dunk too :D

Kind of a fun question.

And well, James Harden notches 39% from 3 and can do these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6C90Z58lF7w

He could absolutely win both. He should try.

Nate Robinson. He has won a few dunk titles and is a career 36 percent 3 point shooter. He's also very streaky so he potentially could get hot at the right time during the contest. 5 years ago it would have been Ray Allen, hands down.

Ray Allen as a new Celtic? Barely gets over the rim bro. Take off the homer shades and come back down to earth.

Not homer shades, bro. Take off the hater shades, bro, and realize that Ray was a really good athlete and has actually participated in dunk contests. The thread is designed to see who could win both the dunk contest and 3 point contest. Ray is the best 3 point shooter in league history and also a pretty good dunker. He's older now, but 5 or more years ago (maybe closer to 10) could have been a contender to win both. I named someone who has done both contests. Most of the players other people are naming hasn't even participated in either.

If you read my post, you notice I went with Nate Robinson. But, I'm sure you just felt like being contradictive so you just picked apart my mention of Ray Ray.

Ray Allen five-ten years ago would be the best for this. He was immediately whom I thought of when I read the question and it seems like a few agree. He can still dunk but I just saw his top ten dunks as a Celtic on youtube and they were incredibly unimpressive but pretty great considering he's early-mid 30's in all of them and known for his shooting so.

I'm just saying... go ahead and Youtube "Ray Allens Best Dunks as a Celtic" (which he was 5 years ago). The montage is not exactly indicative of someone who's capable of competing in a dunk contest. If you said 15 years ago, I'm with you. Ray was a smooth dunker when he was a kid.

I'm sticking with James Harden.

Kobe already won the dunk contest, and he could legimately compete in a 3pt-contest. I mean, chucking shots is sort of his thing lately. The fact that these shots wouldn't even be contested or fading away only make it easier too.

Well yeah he chucks, but anyone can chuck... ya gotta put 'em in. He shot like 29% from three, and worse in the playoffs. His stroke is terrible at this point. And like Ray 5 years ago, this version of Kobe ain't winning any Dunk Contests over dudes like DeMar Derozan or Paul George.

Lebron and Shannon Brown could also win both. Both have huge verticals and shot 36% on 3s. Chase Budinger has a 39 inch vertical and shot 40% on 3s. Bradley Beal would be my dark horse pick with a sweet stroke and insane athletic ability. He is also and emphatic dunker.

You also don't have to be to win it. He shot .362 this year, while Love shot .372 and won (2 more makes and he would've shot higher than Love), and Q Rich only shot .358 the year he won. He wouldn't be a favourite, but he could win it. You don't have to be that good - you just have to get hot on the day.
