I voted 31-40 but that might be because we just acquired him haha. Definitely top 50 for sure though.

honestly he wont move up much on my list, which would be somewhere around 31-40. He's already a great player(top 50) winning a ring won't massively change my ranking about him.

A quick glance of the top 40
1.Jordan
2.Kareem
3.Wilt
4.Magic
5.Russell
6.Bird
7.Hakeem
8.Big-O
9.Shaq

11.Karl Malone
12.Charles Barkley
13.Kobe
14.Jerry West
15.Dr J
16.Moses Malone
17.Bob Pettit
18.David Robinson
19.Elgin Baylor
20.Lebron

21.KG
22.Mikan

Better question is where does he rank among PGs all time?

I think he needs to win a chip to be in the conversation with guys who've won titles like Magic (5), Oscar (1) and Kidd (1), and Stockton (although he never own a title, most assists all time).

I voted 21-30, but I'm not too sure of that. Top40 for sure. I can't forget that he's a 2-time MVP and one of the best passers of his generation. He has been such an impactful player.

Nash getting a ring is like Kidd getting a ring with Dallas or Payton getting one with Miami. It really doesn't move them up on the all time lists unless they are playing at a superstar level.

First of all, the Kidd and Payton rings are in NO WAY alike. Kidd's role with the Mavs >> Paytons with the Heat. Yeah he hit a couple of big shots but Jason Williams was the starting PG.

And Nash's role on the Suns would be a lot more crucial than Kidds on the Mavs. Jason Kidd is my favorite player of all time but Nash has much more left in him than Kidd did last year.

Awesome list  A few changes I would personally like (Kidd above Iverson, Pippen better than Isiah) but Nash's position makes perfect sense. Now if he wins TWO championships I would move him up a few spots

While Nash may no longer be playing at what you call a "superstar" level, he's still one of the top PGs in the league. If the Lakers win, he'll most likely be a consistent major contributor and not a mere spectator so it should help his case in moving up in the all-time list IMO.

It makes him still the single worst defender of his generation

heyman321
07-05-2012, 10:30 AM
It will move him up at least 5 spots. All the criticism he has ever gotten is that "he hasn't even made the finals" before. If he wins this year, it isn't going to be riding the coat tails of some young up and coming star, it's gonna be because he's averaging 12/12 and 50/40/90 AT LEAST.

I dont really get the whole where does he rank if he gets a ring thing. Your asking how good a single player is.....based off somthing you need a team for . If he doesnt win a ring that doesnt make his personal skills worse ?

justinnum1

somewhere between 30-50

Rings don't validate a lifetime of effort and training.

I'm pretty sure Wil Perdue ( Bulls) has a few rings hanging around his house and If I'm not mistaken you can likely buy one of Adam Morrison's rings at a local Orange County pawn shop.

His team first attitude has been a refreshing contrast to the more widely practiced MV-ME attitude that prevails in the big money world of pro sports.

Steve Nash has already cemented his legacy amongst the greats where he currently ranks. If the Lakers win the title then Nash as of now being the single most significant improvement the Lakers made on the roster after the two dismal outings in the playoffs the last two seasons would certainly move him up a notch or two but not a whole lot.

But it would definitely show his importance to the Lakers return to a title.

Nash averaged a double double last year and his PER was over 20. He isn't still a superstar? Not to mention he was playing with absolute SCRUBS aside from Gortat.
