Both.

If they can get Dwight to agree to LA, that is going to be a scary team. Perhaps as good/better than the Heat. But for now that remains to be seen.

Yup, Lakers need to go after a young wing with the mini MLE.

dont see how they beat okc, okc is just way to athletic for them but that series will be fun as hell to watch.

The Lakers primary problem is stopping opposing PGs from penetrating and dishing the ball out. I don't know how Nash helps this.
The extra offense he'll create for Kobe and the big men will be offset by his complete and utter defensive ineptitude. How is this going to stop Westbrook or Parker or CP3 from going hard to the hole?

Nash is still a good player and he'll fit in offensively and compromise them defensively.

Bravo95

Both. Look up Sessions/Blake stats in their losses to OKC.

All they have to do is fill out a real bench now.

The Lakers primary problem was playmaking at the PG and spacing (3pt shooting). Steve Nash negates all of that.

The Lakers have won 5 championships with a sub par defensive PG running the offense with a player as great defensively as Bynum in the paint defense at the PG is no biggie.

07-04-2012, 10:12 PM
Can he and Kobe run a 1-2 pick n roll? Hmmm interesting, They need to fire Brown

To answer the question, they got better

Swashcuff
07-04-2012, 10:15 PM
Is Nash really that worse than Jameer Nelson defensively? Not really. Once Bynum continues to improve defensively Nash being sub par on that end of the floor doesn't really hurt them that much. The PG is the least important/impactful position defensively on the basketball court. Bynum just needs to lock that paint down and Nash's lapses on D can be covered.

Both, but i think this deal will work out beautifully for L.A

especially if they get hill.

They should just keep Pau and Bynum now.

Nash
Kobe
Hill
Pau
Bynum

pretty damn good lineup.

for steve nash to be most effective . he needs the ball in his hand 80 percent of the time to create . kobe aint having that ****

Absolutely need Howard now to protect the rim due to the lack of perimeter defense

JollyRanch

better

playing 4 on 5 most nights (sometimes 2 or 3 on 5 when Pau and Andrew disappear) won't be the case anymore.

Yes, I know Nash is bad defensively but so is Ramon Sessions. You stay the same defensively but drastically improve in virtually every other area

Fisher ..... And Sessios defended worse than his 37 year old body. They can cover for him. Kobe not ball handling lifts a huge load as the playoffs clearly showed Kobe can still defend (Harden was held to the low 30s by him and Lawson was shut out the final 7 minutes of game 7)

They got both, but certainly better as well. If there was a poll I bet it'd be 85% better.

I just don't see the Lakers being much better with Nash. Sure if you look at the names alone, it's a pretty damn good team, but the fact remains that you have a 38 year old PG with a 34 year old SG (who has 16 NBA seasons/playoffs of wear and tear). Both players are clearly on the downside of their careers. So time isn't exactly on their side. If they are not good enough to win a championship with this team this year, they definitely will not be good enough any year after that.

As far as Dwight agreeing to sign an extension with LA, it would make no sense for him since the two major things he doesn't want to happen WILL happen if he goes to LA. For one, he doesn't want to be another "Shaq" in following the same career path. And two, he doesn't want to end up being the only star left in 3 years.

nash has a good 2-3 years left in him. i would say kobe has about the same as an elite player. so they are better..

they just need howard now. if not howard then chandler and amare. nash + amare is a sick combo.

Kobe having the ball handling duties removed means he can be more active on D. Rotate Kobe and Artest on the PG and put Nash on Thabo or Leonard....both who just hang out for 3s.

Considering how effective Nash is even at his age, i think the Lakers got a lot better finally getting a PG that can do a lot of damage

THISSSSSSSS...'

Kobe not handling the ball helps so much... He can get better shots, can conserve energy and be tougher on defense.

All these people saying Howard would be stupid to come to the Lakers make no sense... Nash is a MUCH better PG for Howard, has Dwill ever made a bigman better? Nash has been known to make his bigman look like Stars... Look at Stod and Gortat.

Just imagine Nash with Howard (its a scary thought)... Nash's skill set doesn't require him to be 23. He is very fit and one of the toughest player in the NBA... He wants that ring so bad to.

Lakers gave away 2 games in that series. They just got much better and it would be hard to say they wouldn't have had a great chance to win that series last playoffs with nash.

Do the Lakers have any cap space to get a good bench?

They gonna have to amnesty Artest.

The Lakers are better with Steve Nash. He is still extremely efficient and impactful at his age and averaged 10.7 assists a night and double digit scoring on a very mediocore squad last year. He makes the lakers better as he takes pressure off of Kobe with his playmaking. He's also a great shooter and if our bigs are doubled, Nash will knock down the open shot. Not too mention the fact that he makes everyone around him better and will put people in better positions to succeed on the court. He's exactly what the lakers need.

This

We have won multiple rings without a defensive pg, its our wings (Kobe, Metta, Ariza) defense and inside defense that has won us those.
