View Full Version : Is D-Will worth 20Mil a year?

Simple question. His FG% has taken a hit since he came to NJ, (I realize defences have been able to focus on him more, but it also seems like he benefitted alot from Jerry Sloan's system) and considering they already have JJ at the same salary, and hope to get DH12 (who will also be a max contract player), it seems that the salary cap will be taken up by three players alone, meaning every other player's salary will be over the cap.

Is D-Will worth this much money? Or will this turn into one of those toxic contracts that everybody shakes their head at.

He's a product of Jerry Sloan's system that have made greats like Carlos Arroyo and Raul Lopez

Deron Williams is one of the best players in the NBA today yes he's worth the contract.

Had a bad two years by his standards, but his role was much different than it was in Utah. I think with some better players around him he won't be depended on to shoot as much as he did in the past season.

To answer the question, YES of course he was the best PG in the game a few seasons ago (only because CP3 missed some time :P)

I really can't tell you who deserves a Max-contract nowadays. It lost value in my eyes with some of the players who have received it this year.

I think he is especially when you've traded away so much you would have to give him a max.

No.

Yes, he is a very good player, but he is not marketable and that's a big factor. He's also consistently struggled with health and staying in shape. Nothing major, but always had something keeping him out the past 3 years.

Yup. Still not as good as his Utah's days but he has plenty of time to turn it around.

Imo he is good, But ehh I'll take other PG ahead of him.

*No Order* Rondo, CP3, Parker *Call me a homer * Rose, Nash, Then Dwill. He worth it I guess though.

I'd say so. I'm a bit shocked how inefficient he became since getting traded to the Nets, but I think a good portion of that is due to the fact that defenses could zone in on him more knowing his supporting cast wasn't that good.

With the talent he's got around him now (and if Brooks Lopez can stay healthy,) his numbers should improve across the board.

No. He's overrated and kind of fat.

Never won anything.

Fat? Serious? Not sure where you get that from. He's 6'-4" and 205. I'd call that solid, not fat. When he was in Utah i loved having a PG who could post up any other PG in the league and get the into foul trouble. He did it to CP3 a dozen times.

CP3, Westbrook have "never won anything" either...

ftfy

I believe that now that he is playing on a talented team in a large market people who are doubting will see just how good Deron is.

Is Kobe worth $27 million? D Will is vastly superior to Kobe in every single aspect (it's 2012 for you idiots with your tongues buried up Kobe's butt hole), $20 million is a ****ing steal!

D will doesnt really have any weaknesses . he can shoot lights out pass with the best of them plays pretty solid D and can get to the paint with ease

the only problem he had was getting help . teams would triple team him last year because the nets had no other threat and he still did his numbers

so yes he is worth it

No. I'm a D-Will fan and a Brooklyn fan, and a fan of point guards in general. But max money are for the extreme top level franchise altering players. That's Kobe in his prime. That's LeBron. That's Dwight without distractions. And maybe it's Durant.

You can argue Wade, CP3, Rose, but I don't think so. The market if ridiculous overinflated though. JJ is not a max player. Amare is not a ax player. But this is what happens in the NBA today.
