Another one of Theo's "bad" contracts Jenks signed a two-year, $12MM deal in December of 2010, not long after being non-tendered by the White Sox. Biceps and back injuries limited him to just 15 2/3 innings last year, when he walked nearly one batter per inning, pitching in 19 games during the season and going 2-2 with an ERA of 6.32.

This season Jenks was forced to undergo emergency surgery on December 30, only two weeks after his first back procedure. Had he not done so when he did, the infection could have gone all the way to his brain and possibly killed him.His 2012 is very much in limbo; he will be out for at least the first three months of the season.

A $12M Investment yielding ZERO Return.. I guess we know why the White Sox Non-Tendered Him, b4 Signing with the Red Sox. I guess you can't help but feel sorry for the guy but $12M is a lot of money.

He has a very well documented unhealthy lifestyle. Not surprised at all he broke down at such a young age. His last two years with the White Sox, he looked like much worse than most men ten years older than him. All that said he was great from 05-07!
