View Full Version : Is Rob Pelinka the Best NBA Agent Out There?

He just got Eric Gordon the max while Gordon hasn't shown anything yet in his young NBA career besides the fact that he couldn't stay healthy the last 2 yrs of his career. He's been in the league for only 4 yrs and hasn't made the playoffs once, yet he still got the max.

He's also Kobe's agent. He got Kobe a 7 yr deal worth 136.7M contract in the summer of 2004 days after Shaq got traded, and Kobe became the only player in the NBA to have a no-trade clause since then. (Dirk would later get one). And then he got Kobe a 3 yr $81.3M after that. That's $218M over 10 yrs!

Is he the best agent out there or are there others that are better than him?

He got his teammates (the Fab 5) paid at Michigan too. JOKING, of course.

Getting Kobe a max deal is impressive? I mean, everyone gets max contracts...let alone a perenneal top 3 player. And by all accounts, Pelinka wasn't the reason that lead to the Lakers choosing Kobe over Shaq...

EG getting the max isn't a huge fleece. When healthy, he's one of the absolute best young players in the NBA.

I'll admit that I don't know much about NBA agents, so I can't really respond. But I don't think Kobe nor Gordon getting max contracts is terribly impressive  I doubt it was his expertise that talked either team into doing it...I think they would have done it regardless of who was representing them...

With players like Roy Hibbert getting the max, Omer Asik, getting 8m per, etc etc, giving Eric Gordon, a guy who can drop 25 each night a max is not difficult :P

Given the examples you provided, no not really. The league is light on talent at SG so you would figure Gordon would get a max either way. And Kobe is a top ten of all time player, so he definitely deserves all that money.

He was ranked #8 SG in the NBA on here and I think many would argue he'll have passed Ray, KMart, and probably Monta soon, although Harden has also passed him. He was also #39 overall on ESPN's ranking last year.

I don't think "hasn't shown anything" is quite fair.

I say Omer Asik's agent is better.

He should have been 4th or 5th last year. EJ is a stud.

Darko's agent is pretty incredible.

Jose lipschitz.

Seems like what lost in all this is that teams have to overpay sometimes to attract free agents.

Also he's restricted free agent. They are trying to make it hard for New Orleans to match.

brendan haywood's agent wins

Dwight's agent wins because he doesn't do anything. Although I did hear that he has a law degree from Colombia... the country not the school

Who is Rashard Lewis's agent?

07-03-2012, 11:51 PM
The best individual agent in the league is philly based agent Leon Rose. Hes somewhat of a celebrity within NBA circles, and has been a god in philly for years. Hes got:

A.I was his first biggest client when he was balling out of control
Chris Paul
JR Smith
Rip Hamilton
R Stuckey
And many more

Leon is good, Arn Tellem has the highest client salaries in $$$ amounts, and Mark Bartelstein represents the most players but his best client is Granger

Scwartz is another good one, his clients include Pierce Love Deron Jefferson Chandler Okafor Kidd and Griffin

List of the best NBA agents. Arm Tellem is the best NBA agent and he represent 39 players, 11 all star players, and maxed out 6 players contract.

The Eric Gordon contract offer doesn't surprise me too much especially after the offers that have been made to Hibbert and Asik. The Suns have a bunch of cap room to throw at free agents and as its looking clearer each day that Nash isn't part of the future in Phoenix no more, they probably feel that they need to bring in a quality player.

Jeff Schwartz probably.

Dan Fegan is probably my favorite though, he outright makes ridiculous demands to help his clients and is completely bias.

but i tought Kobe has a horrible contract and Lakers should amnesty him. Wasn't that the general opinion here? People?

Luke Walton makes $5.80M in 2012. That agent deserves a statue.

The best agent is clearly Dion Waiters agent.

He wasn't even projected as a top 20 pick then he shut down all workouts and ends up going #4.

Now that's impressive.

Best agent? Everyone is getting ridiculous deals.

07-04-2012, 09:53 AM
not really, people were already speculating Gordon was going to get the max anyways. the only thing was if NOH were going to match or not.
