Let's get an old guys report

HoopsHype Rumor: Jason Kidd will sign w/ New York Knicks, ... http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#g11F-r2D81

Well he could still start with Lin and defend SGs. He also is make used to playing with guards than Nash at the same time. It isn't terrible if the Knicks reup JR, Lin, and Novak. Knicks need leadership, defense, and rebounding ... Kidd can still provide it at off guard

SpearsNBAYahoo Marc J. Spears
Keep eye on free agent F Antawn Jamison and the Warriors, source tells Y! He used to be repped by GS GM Bob Myers.LAL and CHA interested too

Lakers also expected to meet with Antawn Jamison, probably early next week. Before you ask, he could put off Bobcats for year or two.

I guess. He's just not a great scorer either right now though. His shot has never been that deadly. I mean, he's a good three point shooter, but never has been elite. His ability to get to the rim to score isn't close to above average. I mean, they could stick him at the 2...but I doubt it would reap many dividends

Point is, does Fields do it better at SG? And would you grossly overpay him to start over Kidd for cheap who is still the better player?

I mean they can't start JR and Baron/Shump are out

Kidd got pretty much scewed by the Nets and Deron. They led him to believe he was also going to play for the Nets then they went out and sign that Euro guy. If I was Kidd I would go sign with the Heat for the league minimum and help them win back to back titles.

Yeah. Kidd is a better three point shooter. But honestly, and Kidd is close to being a legend, he's not that much better than Fields at this point in their careers. Fields can score at a more efficient clip (not from 3), is a better rebounder and while Kidd can still defend well, it's not like he's shut down any more.

I mean, if he goes to NYK, he'll help. He's just not going to make a huge difference at all IMO...if he makes a difference at all.

Nash has a playoff shot in Toronto

I mean the Hawks got worse, Indy may get worse unless they match, Orlando is a wild card, Phili wants to shake things up, Bucks and Pistons aren't well constructed, Bobcats are the Bobcats, and Wizards got better. Nets got better and Knicks are a hodge podge

They have a shot, as the bottom playoff teams might not need to be 500

Fg% - 22.6 to 36.5 to 38.5 to 47.2

I hate everything in newyork but i will admit the one team i do like alot has always been the knicks . If they can get kidd that is very good news considering Nash will be much more pricey and Kidd will be surrounded by good talents all around.

IDK about SG tho didn't pay attention to the draft but Landry going to the raptors and JR smith not coming back than knicks need to adress that. Could be wrong.

I hope kidd or nash is a knicks .

i think we want nash but he wants a sign n trade deal and PHX is asking for too much to allow that to happen.... and I think we want to hurry up and focus on getting lin back so kidd might be the best answer at the moment

Lin/Kidd
Shump/JR
Melo/Novak
Amare
Chandler

kidd is still one of the best passers in the NBA and coming off the bench we need a player who can control the offense... he'll be a top 6th man in this league

He's still a really good passer but he wouldn't be anywhere near one of the top 6th men. He still gets a ton of steals (usually in traffic under the basket) but is horrible in man to man defense. One thing that he is still really good at though is his ability to calm a team down when the game gets real helter skelter. He has the ability to slow everything down and get the team in their offensive set and get the other guys to not feed in the chaos.

The Fields offer sheet forced NYK to move. Kidds easier to sign, Nash has more interest.

Now they can match Fields, resign Lin.

Most of you are right, as a starter Kidd is average. But as a 6th man, he's a great piece to a good team whose biggest problem is sharing.

Kidd can be a solid addition to the Knicks depending on where they use him. I'd probably use him in an off-guard role where he could be a spot-up shooter, which offensively is about all he's good for at this point in his career. He can guard SGs, and can also initiate offense when Lin is on the bench.

He could work well as a backup PG to Lin also. He could be a good mentor to him, and teach him some defense and better ball management.

More importantly, I think the flexibility and leadership that Kidd would provide could be a huge addition for the Knicks.

Kidd started to come on strong towards the end of last season. With a normal training camp and by January only having to play 15 minutes a night he'll be a good fit with the knicks. Early in the year they'll probably have him and Douglas play a bit as the 2 guard in addition to JR Smith. Which isn't exactly an ideal rotation but in limited minutes they'll be only kinda bad. lol

Seriously though, Kidd is a good pick up for the knicks. Once Shumpert comes back he'll just be a backup pg and maybe play a few minutes as a spot up 2 guard as well. Kidd can still do that. And he'll be the mentor the knicks need for Lin. With Nash looking like an unlikely pick up now that Toronto f'd over the knicks this isn't such a bad move for them to make. It's not the biggest move of the off season, but it's a solid small move that makes sense on several levels.

Nash almost took the suns to the playoffs in the west this year with arguably a weaker supporting cast. Sorry but with Nash on the Raptors, they easily have a great chance to be a 6-8 seed in the east; his impact is that great.
