All of those teams are in Big Markets, more ready to win now,and has another superstar to gang up with. Now Joe Johnson in BK. so what's next

The three teams he mentioned have GMs with good track records. That's something The Nets don't have.

I dont want to be mean, but he has a GREAT point...

Lakers- 16 time champs, history of great Centers, pairing up with Kobe

Bulls- 6 time champs, history of Jordan (enough said), pairing up with Rose once he comes back.. (which may be a while)

Mavs- Won in 2011, they have Mark Cuban and Dirk..

Nets- 2 time EC Champs, 0 titles...

i cant stand how the teams with good history always have to keep it up, at one point no team was great, it just so happened that the right pieces fell in place for la and boston and they became the two most successful. look at spurs before duncan, mavericks before dirk, heat before wade, pats before brady etc...

nets have a solid team now in the best new arena in nyc, its a great attraction and once they start winning people start going there.

He explained that there are other options more ready to win than the Nets. Since it's not in the OP it's being completely seen as him being a dick.

Lol all of that means nothing.. Do the Lakers still have Magic Do the Bulls still have Jordan?

Its all about now, and a team with Deron and Dwight would be great.

They'd have to get some more talent but they'd have Wallace whos a good complementary player and a very nice young SG in Brooks so thats a nice start right there already...

No they don't but it's history and history repeats itself, you know that one day the Lakers will be on top again, if the Lakers have Kobe, Pau and Dwight... And if we sign Calderon or Jameer and keep Jordan Hill, that team doesn't have talent?

Look at it this way, Lakers were 3rd in the West with this current team with no bench and no PG... Imagine if we swap Bynum for Dwight, and sign a PG... That team isn't better than what the nets have now?

I really don't understand why it's so unbelievable to want to go to the Nets over those teams. Sure, the Lakers have history and Kobe on their team, but Dwight doesn't seem like the kind of guy who cares much for history and he doesn't seem interested in playing with the egomaniac known as Kobe Bryant, who is heading into his mid 30s after all. Kobe isn't going to make Dwight better like Deron will.

The Bulls also have history (not so much before Jordan) and have Derrick Rose on the team but he's a major question mark with his injury but he isn't nearly the distributor that Deron Williams is. Outside of Rose they have some good defensive pieces, but it's not exactly a stacked team, although still quite formidable.

The Mavs are a year removed from winning a title, but it's not like they were overly dominant in the process, if I remember correctly a fair amount of people even believed the Trail Blazers were going to beat them in Rd. 1. I'm not taking anything away from their title, it was an awesome run and I loved watching it but a lot of things went their way in the playoffs and Dirk is in the same boat as Kobe, he's in his mid 30's and already the established face of the franchise.

The Nets really don't have a face of the franchise type guy and with their new arena in Brooklyn, it makes complete sense why he would want to go there. Outside of the fact that the Nets have historically sucked (which he would obviously change), why wouldn't he want to go there?

Oldmantrash
07-02-2012, 08:38 PM
Because Brooklyn is the greatest city in the country.

And it's not even a city.

You win there, will be something special, Lakers, Bulls, and Mavs have won already without him. Taking Brooklyn NY to a title will be epic.

The simple fact Addias offered Dwight a 400 million dollar deal with a new line of his shoes in BK also had something to do with it.

Which is more than what they offered Rose.

The best team in ny has one playoff win in 12 years

Well isn't this a stupid post.

The majority of those years they weren't even in the playoff picture and were often at the end of the Atlantic with 20 wins. The 1st playoff appearance since, they lost Amare who averaged 28 points and Billups who averaged 15 points in the playoff series against Boston and got swept once they both got hurt.

The 2nd appearance they ran into the best team in the NBA without their best defender, Point Guards.

Terrible example.

I just wish there was a way to make the playing field more level. Small market teams never have a chance to land premier free agents. When these small market teams are lucky enough to draft a franchise type player, they struggle to surround them with a good supporting cast due to $. Then the franchise players end up leaving via free agency for more money and a better opportunity to win.

Not for nothing but the nets were in another state and their home games against the Knicks were a home away from home for the Knicks. Now their in Brooklyn, where everyone there is and grew up Knicks fans INCLUDING jay-z. Don't see a big turn around with the fan base.

Really? Have you ever heard of Jared Dudley even once?

Plenty of reasons. Pesky defense. Perimeter shooting. High character guy. Leadership. Extremely cheap contract.

Seriously guys, you should check out the Suns every once in a while. Sheesh.

Jared Dudley = most NBA players who haven't played for the Nets.

Look at what it took to get 1 free agent to re-sign with us. We had to trade for him as a rental, gave up a top 3 lottery protected pick. HAD A TERRIBLE TEAM, but we managed to woo him with money and new arena and and and....but he would have never considered the Nets if it wasn't for this. (Gerald Wallace is the guy in question)

I think things will be easier for us in BKN but nothing comes easy. I understand Jared Dudley fully.. we have always been a crappy team. but this is a new start, a new identity and a new franchise in many ways
