I dont know if anyone has made a thread about this or not but Everytime anyone from the media talks to Robinson they bring up all of his tradgedies in some sick effort to get him to cry.I know myself personally would be pretty angry if someone brung this stuff up everytime they put a mic in my face.

Yea I felt that way too. They're very quick to be like "Yo peeps died how you feel?" while shoving a mic up his nose.

They were over the line interviewing his little sister with him not there too.

yea it's stupid that they keep mentioning it. i was fine with it the first time after he was drafted but they keep asking the same ****. that'd piss me off

They are trying to get a good sound byte and a good story. No regard for sensitivity or awkwardness.

Yeah, it seemed insensitive to ask him upfront like that.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed this.

He will continually use it as motivation. But to respond to the topic, it has been outta hand for a while now IMO. Even when he wasn't a Sacramento King I thought it was getting too much

lol I am gonna laugh when one of his new teammates/coach rips the media a new ****ing *******. They are trying to get a good story, and for some reason I feel like they are trying to push this kids buttons. Someone will come to his aid soon because if he says something he will come out as the bad guy somehow.

With no Paul Westphal from the start he's fully capable of averaging 20 and 12 next year.

I'd say more like 15 & 7.

For Cousins? He had 18 and 12 last year. No way Cousins gets only seven boards a game. He was one the top five guys in rebound rate last year.

I would hope ESPN asked him before the draft if they could go along these lines with the interview as he seemed prepared. His little sister didn't look like she knew what was going on though. I hope she wasn't just ambushed.
The whole story shows T-Rob to be a class act though. I'm really impressed by how he handled it.

It was a personal situation, but a widely known situation, and the question gets asked to every player drafted, how do you reflect on this moment, who do you owe for being here, what does this mean to your family, parents......T-Rob handled it fine.......and i think everyone loves T-Rob and hopes he will exceed at the next level

yea, really hope one of his teammates just ***** on a reporter one day. asking a question like this to them:

"are your grandparents alive? o there not. how do you feel? your parents dead? how have you been since then?"

hopefully if a player responds like that to the media they will stop harrassing t-rob with those questions. seems like a good guy that has gone through alot. let him be. i wouldnt want people reminding me of that stuff every chance they get.

T-Rob is my favorite Jayhawk ever

I'd get fed up pretty quickly if reporters kept asking the same questions about my deceased family over and over again.

I can understand him asking right after he is drafted because its part of his whole "story" in getting to the NBA, but the interview with the sister was awkward as ****. If they continue to blast this story about him and ask him about it then its definitely crossing the line.

GREATNESS ONE
06-30-2012, 11:29 AM
That's the media for you, forget people's feelings or thought. It's all about ratings and stories.

He should hire Delonte West as a body guard.

Its just the way they ask him too its like they are trying they're hardest to get him worked up.Its like right when he got drafted there like "congradulations Thomas do you wish your mother was here"I could understand something like youve overcome alot this past year and leave it at that.

I think they know its what motivated him to get there(getting drafted), he said he made them a promise...but yeah, I cringe everytime I hear them bring it up....I'm sure it will go away once the hype of the draft roll over.

I agree. The media is so ****ing lame these days. Back in the day - there was a time and place to bring up this kind of stuff. Now they just do anything they can to bump the ratings up on a Thursday. **** ESPN. I am patiently waiting for the day someone comes along and actually gives them some competition.

Same here! ;)

But yeah, it was ridiculous from the beginning. Mass media is deplorable these days. Just goes to show you what kind of character he has to be able to handle it the way he has. It's just piss-poor that he worked hard to realize a dream, finally accomplishes that goal, and yet the media just wants to focus on all the negative aspects of his life. How about a little credit for being a great basketball player?

That initial interview with his little sister made me cringe. That poor girl was totally blind-sided. Then they lie to her and make it seem like Disneyland will be in her backyard...that's messed up. Yes, Sacramento is closer to Disneyland than D.C. is, but it's still like 400 miles away. Apparently once she was back in the green room she was much more comfortable and talkative. She was quoted as saying, "I love the Sacramento Kings!". And, appropriately, her favorite color is purple...which is why T-Rob wore a purple tie on draft night.

Hopefully the media here in Sac will ease up on them a little in regard to the tragedies they've dealt with. Regardless, our community will welcome them with open arms. SacTown is already in love with T-Rob.
