Waited until it ended because didn't want to jinx the chance at the rotation shutout...

Curious, has the rotation strikeout ever happened and what is the mlb record for consecutive shutout innings?

Of course Matt Cain had to end it, great pitchers don't end streaks...Matt Cain is just merely good...

Record is 5

Orioles have done it twice (95 and 74), Cards did it once (in 62).

Too bad, got close.

I'll look up the scoreless inning streak, give me a min

Interesting stat that I learned.

The 1909 Cubs shutout their opponents a record 32 times.

Don Drysdale as thrown the most consecutive full shutouts in a row (6) (Hersh' streak was only 5, his 6th start he didn't go all 9 innings.)

The record you asked for; 56 innings by the 03 Pirates.

O's in 74 (not the streak I mentioned above) had 54 innings.

The reason the Pirates total isn't up above, is because it was more than one pitcher in the individual games getting the shutouts as a team.

Lol wow, I'm curious to see who was pitching for the pirates at that time.

;)

Select schedule and results, and you can see it started on June 1st and ended on the 9th

They scored at least 32 runs in this span.

I have Lincecum, Bumgarner, and Vogelsong on my fantasy team so I was happy to see it happen.

I find it funny that they gave up a home run on the last pitch of the game on Sunday and also on the first pitch of the game yesterday.

It was only meant to happen that way.
