View Full Version : Aaron Hill Hits for the Cycle... Again

Aaron Hill just hit for his 2nd cycle in as many weeks. Not bad.

Also, Paul Goldschmidt is a triple away from the cycle in the same game... which is pretty unlikely.

Goldschmidt hit a ball down the line and a fan reached out and touched it sticking him to a double, it probably wouldn't have been a triple anyway but still :laugh2:

Getting away from D.Murphy (Jays hitting coach) was the best thing that could've happened to Hill. I'm glad he's back to form. He was far too talented to continue to suck. Meanwhile... our 2B Kelly Johnson is having a terrible season. He's 3rd in SO's behind notorious swing-and-miss hitters in Pena and Dunn.

Should have hung onto him! How long until Toronto starts calling for AA's head?! People call him a good GM but look at how the team has preformed! Last in the division.

He needed to get out of Toronto to make this turnaround. He basically started hitting again as soon as he joined the D-Backs.

Yea, it has nothing to do with the fact that they are missing 4/5 of their starting pitchers.

Again....their missing 4/5 of their original SP. Give me one team that has that happen and are still in contention

Well I wouldn't say they're in contention anymore... But I agree with you 100% in my mind, Hill leaving Toronto was the best thing that could've happened to him, personally happy to see he's doing good. But that has nothing to do with their record so far... The Jays were in contention until 2 weeks ago, when they lost 3/5 starters to Major injuries. Alvarez is back though, but still.. Losing 4/5 SP in that short amount of time is the reason their record is like this. NOT AARON HILL.

Ya, but not every team loses 4/5ths of their starting rotation in 2 weeks. I cannot recall another instance of that happening to any team in such a short period of time.

But ya, you're clueless.

Yep. Every team has injuries. Give me one example of something in recent memory that even closely resembles this situation...

I'm really glad to see Aaron Hill doing so well again. I really wish the Jays had traded Dwayne Murphy to the Diamondbacks instead of Hill.

Well if you mean losing 4/5 starts, then no. But if you mean losing tons of starting position players and pitchers, then look at the Red Sox the past year and a half.

yeah where are all those blue jay fans proclaiming that AA "strikes again" and how he won another trade, does anyone else remember that?

4th someone has hit for the cycle twice in one year, second time since the 19th century.

Last time was in 1931.

wow

I think hitting for the cycle is more of an statisical oddity than a terrific accomplishment but do it twice in a couple of weeks is still pretty neat.

Anthopoulos is not infallible, and some of the fans attitudes would have you believe that he is. That being said, he is still one of the best general managers in baseball and certain players that he decides to trade may not have had the same success in Toronto that they end up having elsewhere.

Exactly right.

I would still trade Moz for AA right now :)

That's amazing, twice in a season and first time since Babe Herman in 1931.

Good for Aaron Hill, the move to the NL has seemed to help him.

Yawn, hitting for the cycle is so overrated. Why this "randomness" in a game is so special is beyond me.
