"Though speculation Tuesday centered on Deron Williams, with Howard believed to want to join Williams in Brooklyn, the Rockets are more likely to try to land New Orleans guard Eric Gordon, a restricted free agent, with an offer the Hornets would not match, according to an individual with knowledge of their thinking. "

Eric Gordon is not going anywhere, NO would match anything, and Gordon would be worth it. Realistically.

I wish! but the Rockets dont even have the assets for D12 and Pau, much less another star player along with that

LOL the Rockets want a new team totally it seems, but honestly(not being a homer) I don't see them getting EJ

I think many teams will offer him the max. The only advantage Houston has is all these new assets to offer in a sign and trade (including Lowry). Might be better off so they don't spend a fortune now and have plenty of additional picks to stock up on youth.

Every year the Rockets are after everybody, every year the Rockets make a zillion trades, every year the Rockets stay the same.

no chance that happens

those 3 players alone would cost us 50 milion a year, and we don't even that many assets

As a fan, you have to applaud the Rockets Org for consistently trying to make things happen and win, every year. A for effort, at least.

I don't understand why people are making fun of the Rockets. It only makes sense for them to go after the big free agents. They aren't just going to set their sights on Deron. If that obviously doesn't work out, i see no reason why they shouldn't try and get Eric Gordon. He would help their team a lot.

That's what a smart GM does, he looks at all the options. Doesn't just pray that a big star will sign with them. Perhaps Cuban should have taken some lessons from Rockets GM.

its funny you say that cause he does. morey holds an analytic basketball conference, every year i think, and cuban attends them.

Stern isn't going to go for it, he might make the rockets give the Hornets a few draft picks for even thinking this

I just wish the Rockets would understand that they need to build a low cost playoff team and then TRADE for the final guy to take them over the top. Show the free agents that they are a consistently good team, and good players will come. They fill the roster with decent players and then try to move them all for one great player, and it doesn't work out. It's not always about getting a guy to sign here.

How is that even possible if they already made trades from the roster last year to get the picks they have. And Lowry will be traded as well so no even if they don't get Howard or anyone they will look different because of all the rookies they will have

This is almost as funny as the "Hornets have Okafor and Landry, they don't need Anthony Davis" quote....

Should I sig this or does anyone else want it?

Exactly. Not only do they have 3 picks in the first round, but they also have quite a bit of money to spend on free agency.

now, obviously deron is the better overall player. but what hes saying has some validity. as a starter, goran averaged 18 PPG, 8 APG, 4 RPG, and 2 SPG. He shot 38% from 3, 49% from the field, and 84% from the line. Those are not shabby numbers, and when you compare contracts, may very well be a better value than Williams.

and Goran plays solid D, too. He's 6'4'', lanky, and quick. He can get to the hoop. Hes a very, very, very good starting PG, and if ppl didnt notice this last year, than this year will be his coming out party.

I honestly would love Lowry or Dragic as our starting PG

Its obvious that the Rockets are still pissed about the Gasol trade so they want to drive up the cost of the Hornets keeping their best player. I like it.

Eric Gordon is not worth the max, deals like this is the reason owners complained about the older CBA.

Its a risk with a high reward.... he has All Star potential, he is one of the best scorers in the league, a great shooter, he is very young, and he is learning how to play defense..... the only iffy point is him being injury prone...

I'm a Suns fan, I know about the 6'3 Dragic.

And yes he played well as a starter but 28 games is too small a sample size. Deron Williams has played well for MANY seasons and comparing that to Dragic's 28 games is a joke.

Also Goran has major motivational issues. I think the main reason he played well for Houston is because he knew it was a contract year for him. Expect him to cruise once he gets it.
