First domino has fallen nets sign the 26 year old 6'9'' 240lbs SF/PF

http://www.netsdaily.com/2012/6/26/3118016/teletovic-multi-year-deal-with-nets

leading Spanish basketball blog reports Tuesday that Mirza Teletovic, the 6'9" Bosnian stretch forward, has a multi-year agreement in place with the Nets. The site, Encestando, did not disclose how much money Teletovic will earn in the NBA. He recently reached an agreement to buy out his Spanish League club, Caja Laboral, for $2.5 million.

"It’s over now, Mirza Teletovic's time on stage in the ACB," reports Javier Maestro. ACB is the acronym for the Spanish League. "The Bosnian player has already reached an agreement with the Brooklyn Nets to play in the NBA and the coming years. Barcelona tried a couple of weeks to prevent his departure, but ... it seems that its march to the American League was his choice."

He averaged

21pts, 6 rebs, 1blk in 34 minutes and 43% from 3P in the EURO league last year

Guy is very inconsistent. Amazing shooter but if you want a comparison, it's more like to a headless chicken that can shoot from anywhere. His brains are not in his head. He can win games on his own, but his shot selection is pretty naive(in absence of a stronger word).

With that said, he can thrive in the NBA in a 6th man role and could actually be a contender for 6th man of the year. He can really charge an offense. Not sure how his defense translates in the NBA. And will depend if he'll play SF or PF. He's more of a stretch 4.

I'm one who appreciates his talents. Some others call him useless. We'll see.

Euroleague is ridiculous. It's a grind to play over there. Thats why B.Jennings hated it. They run you into the ground. It's a very physically league. I heard alot of the players over there play dirty as well. The players aren't as talented but you can see by Ricky Rubio being over there it's not about individual talent. They force you to play as a team or you get hammered

I read awhile back that he would be a better signing than any rookie in the draft other the davis of course. So this sounds to me like we are gonna sign a potential #2 overall pick talent. Sounds good to me. We lost the 6th overall apick but got a easy top 5 pick talent.

As bout his chances in the Nba, you never know what is going to happen, i mean surefire stars like jasikevicius or macijauskas made horrible nba careers, whilst low profiles in fiba like giricek or vujacic have done better-

His analysis actually seemed pretty fair considering he actually watches Euroball, as in not just videos on youtube. He also said this guy could be a 6th man of the year candidate. What was he supposed to say? "By the Gods the Nets have just guaranteed themselves a championship by signing this undrafted 26 year old Michael Jordan."

You're just an idiot trying to pick a fight.

NYKalltheway

If you want an indication of how high he's rated in Europe, I'd say he's like top 10-15 level. Could be rated somewhere at 8-10 overall. Positional (as a stretch 4) he's like top 2 or 3 though.

I had a post somewhere in the Knicks forum with his complete stat line when he was rumored to sign with us, not sure if I can find it now.
He improved his shot selection a bit this season, last season he was atrocious with his shooting. He'd get up with 4 hands on his face, 30ft away and just shoot. He was one of the most efficient players in the Euroleague last season as per statistics, but his team didn't go far and people put the blame on him as they had a decent team and an easy group.
Had 16.3 ppg in Spanish league (3rd best) and they lost in the 5th game (5 game series) of the championship semi finals against a relatively stacked team who lost in the 5th and final game of the championship playoffs against a better Barcelona team. Guess he didn't do that bad in Spain last season.

People actually blame his coach for letting him have so much freedom. I personally have not seen him with another coach so I cannot assume how he'll fare, but we've always had discussions that if he had a better coach he'd be one of the best ever. Not sure if Avery Johnson is the right man for the job, I'd say this should have been done 2-3 years ago when he showed potential perhaps it's too late to change his style now.

Mirza Teletovic, a 6'9" PF from Bosnia, will reportedly leave his Spanish team to sign a deal with the Cavaliers or Nets this summer.
DraftExpress.com has some great intel on Teletovic, and the general impression is not positive. He has 3-point range but is reportedly a weak defender and a poor rebounder. "Brian Cardinal & Brian Scalabrine carved out 10-year careers in the NBA with much less talent," writes DX's Jonathan Givony, "so maybe Mirza Teletovic can too."

The Euroleague is a different game than the NBA. It is more like NCAA ball, more team oriented offense. Brandon Jennings averaged 5.5 ppg and 2.5 apg in 18 minutes a game. Not to say this guys 21 ppg will jump (b/c he did shoot a lot), it will probably fall, but it is a different league and you can't say how anyone will translate.

And the CBA, they rarely have guys over 6'5... no wonder Yao tore them up.

Solid signing if the deal is complete. He looks like a solid dude, hopefully he has some toughness on the boards and on the blocks.
