It's true - confirmed officially and stuff - Jame Moyer has indeed signed with the Las Vegas 51s. #Bluejays #jays

MY THOUGHTS: He's my favourite pitcher of all-time, but man he will (likely) get decimated in the AL East.

its becoming more and more obvious that the only reason we aren't getting Guthrie is because of the money... Rogers will continue to be ****ing cheap..

there is no way the Rockies could be asking for anything of value

What if...

He came in, pitched amazing, and got win #300 with us?

Could be an awesome Jays story. ;)

EDIT: He pitched amazing in his minor league stint with the Orioles.

C'mon guys. Would you really rather see Chavez or Scott Richmond pitch or Moyer? At this point it's just tossing darts and praying one of them can pitch into the fifth inning.

Moyer (49)+Vizquel (45)+Oliver (41)

Hutchison (21)+Lawrie (22)+Alvarez (22)

I might be drunk but I feel like having row A around should do wonders for row B.

As much as I don't have much belief Moyer will be able to do anything in the AL East, when you're calling up Scott Richmond this can't be a bad thing.

Actually, if you bother reading, the Rox already said they're keeping Guthrie because they think he'll do well in the pen with their "4 man rotation". They wanted some of value back and the Jays balked at their asking price.

Moyer is pretty terrible... but if Alvarez is hurt for any length of time they need SOMEONE to throw out there. I've never seen injuries like this to a starting rotation ever before in my life. Awful...

Moyer isn't even that bad. The Rockies defense was putrid. The 5.21 ERA should look more like 4.00 or so.

Yes, I know errors don't hurt your ERA, but they were making 2-3 errors in all of his starts to start the season. On top of that, they were missing plays that normal baseball players would make! It only seemed to be when Moyer was pitching too, because their error numbers don't look that out of whack compared to most guys.

Why do they keep trying to plug holes with trash pick ups? Just throw out Villanueva, Perez, Jenkins, and Carreno. Or keep Chavez and Laffey and fill the other 2 hole with Villanueva and Perez! We let Eveland and Jo Jo stink up the starting rotation for the LT in past seasons might as well give Chavez and Laffey a shot at least!

They are.... they need FOUR starting spots due to injury.

It's crazy, but that's why we're throwing out scrubs

4 of our 5 starters are out with injuries right now and people are pissed we have scrubs starting for us? What do you expect? Is there any organization in baseball that can take a beating to their pitching staff like that and still throw out quality arms?

I understand the frustration right now, but come on people. Can we at least have an ounce of reason?

Even with the scrubs we are still finding ways to win. But how long can we keep putting up this many runs. Moyer better than Chavez. Just don't bring up guys not ready like Jenkins and McGuire who will just get killed and could just screw them up in the head.

What's this? A voice of reason? Here?

If the Jays were a bat, a quality starter and a quality reliever away from contending before the injuries, what are they now? Yet some seem to think they need to go out and mortgage at least part of the future to get pitching when they'd need to pretty much get an entire rotation - and they'd still be that bat and reliever short.

The bottom line is that the Jays have been decimated and their chances of staying in contention this year are slim at best. Why overpay for a quality arm or even two when it will just deplete the farm and get them nowhere.

No kidding. With all the TJ surgeries (well, one for sure, maybe two more if worst case with Alvarez and Hutch happens) we may have 2-3 spots for next year and Hernandez has enough (I feel) in the tank to be a decent 5th starter for this season and the next. 180+ innings, ~ 4.50 ERA, etc.
