View Full Version : Why was Danny Ferry so coveted?

Seriously... he was talking to like three teams before he signed with Atlanta. What did this guy do in Cleveland that made others think he was worth bringing to their team. In my opinion, he totally dropped the ball when it came to building a contender around LBJ. The team sorely needed a shooting guard and he ended up trading for Jamison when they already had Anderson-V and Hickson (who had been playing well at the time) at PF and James and Jamario Moon at SF.

What I saw was a scenario where the owner let him spend as much as he wanted and take on contracts and he still failed to deliver.

Am I missing something here?

You're not missing anything.

Hes a terrible GM and the primary reason as to why LeBron wanted out of Cleveland because management couldn't be counted on to put any sort of talent around him, outside of trading for declining "stars". The only good move he made was capitalizing on Milwaukee wanting to get rid of Mo Williams.

You put him in charge of an Atlanta "rebuilding" project and they're screwed.

I think Ferry is the only GM who would make trading Joe Johnson a bad move.
